"Great place to stay"
We had a great experience at this hotel. Very clean and awesome location. My only negative would be the price as we have paid less for a similar room in other parts of Japan.

"A convenient good location hotel"
Convenient, good location near to morning market and other attractions. Only not up to my expectation is the onsen. Not much of a view or an experience that I can have fond memories of given the price is higher than other good onsen hotels in the area.

"Excellent means of travelling back into time."
Kaiseke, tatami, view, expanse of the rooms, old world charm. Just loved the ambience of traditional Japan. No Porter to carry out bags or fancy reception. The staff multitasking their roles make it a festive veer from normal hotels. I'd definitely stay here again. It's just 10 mins walk to the attraction of the olday Town. And it's altitude affords a panoramic view of almost the entire Town.

"Traditional & Lovely "
My husband and I spent two nights at this lovely ryokan in Takayama and we had an amazing experience! I called ahead to let them know about my shellfish allergy and they were very accommodating with my meals. They also arranged a car to pick us up from the train station upon our arrival to the city and we had a mini welcome party once we got to the hotel. Yuki was assigned as our point person and her English was very good! She was a lifesaver and also very patient with us as she described all of our different food options and guided us on Japanese cultural traditions. For the most part we took this time to relax so we spent a lot of time at the hotel. In the afternoons they would bring us tea, and while we were at dinner they would make our traditional Japanese style beds, which by the way are way more comfier than I expected them to be, and even though it was cold outside, the room temperature was always very nice and the beds very warm. They also have different onsens that you can visit, including one that's mixed, and they provide you with everything you need to make your stay as comfortable and stress free as possible. All in all, we highly recommend this place and we would go back in a heartbeat!

"Good hotel but would benefit from a refurb"
Good hotel, a little out of town but easily walkable with very helpful staff and lovely onsen (quiet in the day but very busy in evening). The rooms are a little run down but spacious and comfortable.

"Beautiful Ryokan in Takayama"
We had an absolutely lovely time at this ryokan from the moment we got there and were given a welcome drink and sweet and our yukatas. The baths were beautiful and the service was outstanding. Most of the staff know enough english that you can easily get by if you don't know much Japanese. The dinner was excellent as well, and if you are still hungry later, try the ramen shop!

Takayama is calling — find the perfect hotel

Everyone wants to score a deal on travel, but price is just one factor to consider when booking an unforgettable hotel. Whether you’re visiting family, attending a conference or taking a well-earned vacation in Takayama, having an awesome experience should be a no-brainer.

Hotwire will hook you up! From restful nights near your flight to that prime spot in the city’s heart, we’ve done our research to bring the best options to your fingertips. Book your Takayama hotel with us now and start your next adventure.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
