"Nice hotel"
The Golden Tulip is a nice and clean hotel, with great views and friendly staff. The food however is the major limitation. Breakfast is quite decent, but other food seems to be overcooked, quite dry, and rather so-so (this is after eating multiple meals from at the restaurant). Overall the hotel is great, but I would recommend eating out and not at the hotel itself.

"Lovely hotel in a fun, vibey setting"
The slipway hotel is beautiful, quirky and steeped in the cultural diversity that makes Dar es Salaam, the cosmopolitan melting pot it is. The rooms are beautiful, clean and comfortable. We stayed in a room with a sea view which was lovely day and night. Having the markets, restaurants, pubs and night life right on the doorstep was wonderful as we got to experience so much in such a short period of time. The food and drinks at The Waterfront, The Terrace and Thai Kani were both delicious and well priced. The service everywhere was OUTSTANDING!! Hotel Wifi good. Hotel transfer from the Airport took about an hour there (arrived at 11:30) but only 30 mins back (06:00 on a sunday morning) I recommend using the hotel taxi service as its no more expensive than the local taxis at $35-50 depending on size of vehicle. We used one of the taxis from the airport and when he came to fetch us the morning of our departure he was very drunk! Perhaps thats why the return trip was so short?! :) We enjoyed it so much and will definitely return soon!

Although some rooms overlook the sea, a bit far from beach. Nice location, not far from downtown.

"Nice Hotel, Closer to US embassy"
We stayed here for 1 night, and we had a good experience. Staff are helpful and friendly. Location is great especially for those who want to go to US embassy which is roughly less than 30mins drive on high traffic morning hours. I would recommend for family stay as well as those who want multiple nights with home away from home environment.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
