"Slightly disappointing"
We have been there before but this time found the restaurant had been fully booked for a coach party, meaning a taxi trip into town to look for somewhere to eat at a cost over over €50. Not good enough.

"Large Country House on River Dordogne"
We were pleased to be upgraded to a larger room by a very pleasant Receptionist. The room was comfortable but lacked air conditioning or even a fan and being a very warm night we left the balcony doors open which left us victim to aircraft noise from the local airfield until midnight.

"Very cosy comfortable Hotel"
We stayed with a small dog and a 10 yr old when the weather touched 38 degrees and found it very comfortable. The room was ground floor with a door which opened to the rear for the dog and was air conditioned. The hotel has a swimming pool and the food was excellent with a nice terrace next to the pool.

"Simple well managed hotel in city centre"
This is a hotel where you get what it's says on the tin. Good value for a decent three star hotel with pleasant helpful staff. The only thing wrong was that the hair dryer kept falling apart!

"A Genuine Working Chateau, Beautifully Restored"
Tastefully restored by the owners, the Chateau sits a couple of kilometres outside Bergerac and is surrounded by fields. It is a very quiet and restful place. The ancient house is full of character and a courtyard separates it from the renovated winery. The Chateau produces three kinds of wine and will organise courier delivery overseas. As this is an old property, it does not come with certain mod cons you would expect in a hotel. There was no air-conditioning or fridge or facilities to make hot drinks in our room. We did not ask for any to be supplied as we were happy in the room. Breakfast is served in the old kitchen and guests sit around a large oak table. Breakfast is charged extra and is a combination of cheese, breads, croissants, fresh orange, coffee and preserves. We decided against hiring a car and regretted it! The walk into Bergerac is fine but got a bit tiring and boring after the first few efforts. It's about a 20 minute walk or five minute drive. This is a family run business, so more like staying in someone's house than an 'anonymous' hotel.

"Cycle trip through France"
Adequate budget hotel in centre of Bergerac well position for the centre and with more than adequate facilities. Parking place in a secure location to rear yard. Didn't eat or drink at the hotel as there were numerous other places win walking distance. Would have no hesitation staying here again.

"Flawless"
This property creates the perfect French countryside experience. It's an old sprawling farmhouse complex exquisitely renovated and stunningly landscaped in a postcard-perfect village. Its staff is genuinely friendly. The hotel owns a bistro and a sandwich shop in the village. On the Saturday night, there was live music in the village square as we were enjoying our dinner at the bistro.

"Great pool and pleasant countryside setting"
I was in the annexe and had a good-sized double room, newly refurbished. It was very quiet and I slept extremely well. I did not use the restaurant so cannot comment on breakfast or dinner. The Grand Manoir also has an equestrian centre and tennis courts. The setting is very pleasant if you are looking for a quiet stay in the beautiful countyside and would be useful as a base for exploring.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
