"Excellent Hotel in Kagoshima"
The hotel runs a shuttle bus from the Kagoshima Chuo station to the hotel every half hour. The schedule and pickup location are both available on the Hotel Shiroyama website. The hotel is very large, and there was a crowd of people waiting to check in when we arrived, but we were shown to a waiting area near the front desk, where we sat for five minutes until our name was called. We were shown to our room by a young women from Finland, who told us about the hotel amenities in English. Our room was very large by Japanese standards and had a nice view of the surrounding hills. Had we paid more for our room, we could have had a view of the volcano on Sakurajima Island, across the bay from Kagoshima. The hotel has multiple restaurants, which serve different types of Japanese food (sushi, tempura, teppanyaki), Chinese food, and a very large buffet with an amazingly large and eclectic mix of Japanese and western food. Our room price included breakfast, and one morning we ate at the buffet dining room and another at a Japanese restaurant that overlooks a beautiful garden. We ate dinner one night in the Japanese restaurant that serves excellent tempura. The next night we ate in the buffet ("Viking") restaurant. Both meals were excellent, but the price of the latter was about half of that of the former. The hotel has large Japanese baths, one for men and one for women. There are both indoor and outdoor tubs. The latter have great views of Sakurajima, the volcano on it, and the bay

"Nice hotel close to JR station"
Hotel staff were friendly and helpful. One of hotel male staff spoke some english. Buffet breakfast at the hotel was great. It was mostly tradition Satsuma japanese food. Our semi double room was small but quiet. Had window view of train station & electronic store.

"Nice hotel close to dining and sightseeing"
The hotel offered car park with 1300 yen per day, however there are a few public car parks just next to hotel and max is 900 yen per day. In addition, there are many restaurant surrounded the hotel and with lots of variety of food to choose, also fruits and cake shops too. Also walking distance (within 30 mins) to the pier for ferry trips. We didn't take the tram (2 stops to the pier) because we want to walk around the city. Furthermore, the hotel is located next to the shopping distinct. The room was small (typical JP standard size room) but acceptable. At least I can open up my suit case flat on the floor (I had experience with other JP hotels that I need to put the suit case on my bed cos there was't sufficient space on the floor). The room and bathroom are clean and the bed is comfortable. Overall, we are happy with our stay, and we will come back to this hotel for sure.

"Lots of ash but still enjoyable"
Even though it is a bit out of town access to the centre of the city was only a bus trip away. Due to the biggest eruption by Sakurajima since 2006 the whole city was covered in volcanic ash. I have been to Kagoshima several times and it is the first time I have seen it in this condition. Considering the amount of ash on the ground and still being expelled by Sakurajima the cleanliness of the room was outstanding. Unfortunately the hotel's onsen was out of commission due to the amount of ash that had fallen. Waking up in the early morning and opening the curtain to the view of Kinko Bay and Sakurajima was a truly enjoyable way to start the day.

Kagoshima is calling — find the perfect hotel

Everyone wants to score a deal on travel, but price is just one factor to consider when booking an unforgettable hotel. Whether you’re visiting family, attending a conference or taking a well-earned vacation in Kagoshima, having an awesome experience should be a no-brainer.

Hotwire will hook you up! From restful nights near your flight to that prime spot in the city’s heart, we’ve done our research to bring the best options to your fingertips. Book your Kagoshima hotel with us now and start your next adventure.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
