"Reasonable hotel, good location"
Not particularly impressed by small rooms, dingey grey towels and ripped duvet covers. Staff pleasant but difficult to get service. Wouldn't stay there again. Disappointed.

"Pleasant and well run; great value"
The hotel is a budget hotel located a half block from the main square. It's pleasantly decorated; the hotel feels recently done The staff was very friendly and the breakfast choices extensive. My room was small but comfortable and was immaculate. I'd definitely return.

"A great place to stay in Trondheim"
We stayed two nights at this hotel while visiting Trondheim. Of the four Thon hotels we stayed at in Norway over a two-week period, this one had the best breakfast. The room was comfortable. Because it was actually warm in Trondheim, we had to leave the windows open in the evening to cool off the room, so there was a bit of noise from a dance club down the street. But it was not bad. There is no parking for the hotel. Both evenings we were able to park on the street in front of the hotel for free all night. We just had to be out by 8:00, which worked fine for us. We also stayed at the Thon Trondheim (which is nearby) a few days later and we would recommend this one (the Gildevangen) over the Thon Trondheim. There is also the Thon Prinsen nearby, but we did not stay there. We would stay here again.

"Spacious"
Stayed here for one night since we had a morning flight out of Trondheim. Too far out if you're looking to explore the city (about a half hour drive) but if you need to use the airport like we did, the location was perfect! Very easy to get to and is literally next to the airport. The lobby is huge and very impressive when you first walk in. The room was also pretty large by Scandinavian standards, and was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was absolutely incredible- delicious, HUGE variety of items, and tons of seating. We spent two weeks driving around Norway, at a different hotel each day, and this was probably the best hotel breakfast we had.

"Very nice and clean, in center of town"
I was in Trondheim to attend a conference at the Spectrum. I chose this hotel because it was within easy walking distance, but it turned out really nice and right in the middle of town. There was an excellent restaurant right in the hotel, and a good Italian restaurant right next door. Also the included breakfasts were super.

"Great for a simple stopover"
So I wasn't as unsettled as I thought I would be by the hotel's proximity to the train line. Double glazing and blackout curtains as well as a comfy bed made this a restful place to stay. Ain't conn didnt seem to work brilliantly. Perfect location for convenience walking to the bus and train as well as the pool the town shops and cafe said and all the sights.

"Average hotel, but one BIG advantage"
The hotel is a converted bakery, and has many associated photos and objects on display, so the building itself is more interesting than many of the other mid-range hotels available. The general room facilities were pretty standard, but no kettle in the room, which is a shame. On the plus side, hot drinks are always available near the lobby and they even provide take-away cups. The hotel is very well situated - a five minute walk from Sentralstasjon which has a direct bus link to the airport, and a couple of minutes walk to the shops and museums. The major plus point for this hotel is that it is basically full board, since they offer "make your own" waffles in the afternoon and food in the evening too, all included in the B&B price. I have to say that the food is not exciting, but there should be something for most people. Every day we had soup (probably made from a packet) a hot main (mostly mince in various forms, and reminding me of school dinners, but perfectly edible) a selection of salads, cheeses and cold meats, fresh fruit and sometimes ice-cream. They also have a small selection of alcoholic and soft drinks for sale. Eating out in Norway is very expensive - you can very easily spend 500 Kr a head for a two or three course meal, so the option to eat in for free can be very attractive!

"Very good exprrience"
Excellent breakfast buffet. Friendly staff. Great location for getting to the airport. Room was small for four people. Good WiFi service, but difficult to sign in to with my mobile phone; needed to ask for help from the reception desk, Had to pay for parking my car at the hotel.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
