"Good value"
Pretty good hostel! At first I thought it was in a dodgy area, but it's actually pretty safe. There are a LOT of broken windows around the shops there, but I didn't have any issues with anyone during my 4 day stay. The hostel has 4 kittens, so bring your allergy medication if needed, they only hang around the lobby area. The staff was pretty great, some of them don't speak english very well, but they do their best to help with any issues.

"Central location - ideal for city break"
My friend and I booked this trip to Brussels for 5 nights - a city break. The hotel itself is in a great location - in the centre of town next to a Metro Station. City Centre was literally a 2 min walk from the hotel. The hotel itself was very nice - aesthetically. Be aware that there are roadworks which are being carried out and we heard them in the first morning of our stay (2nd Floor). We moved room to the 5th Floor which was a better room and looked like it had been refurbished. The facilities at the hotel are not great - no concierge service provided when arriving or leaving the hotel - we struggled with taking our luggage in and out of the hotel on our own and no offer of help by staff, There was no kettle, gown, slippers or ironing board provided, We had to ask for these and had to also ask for a heater as the room's heating was not working one night. The hotel itself is exquisite from the inside but the rooms themselves are not 5* quality. My friend and I agreed that the rooms would be a 4* at a push. But still we had a pleasant trip - very central and easy to get around. The Restaurant was amazing - the food was really tasty however, it was on the expensive side.

"Fantastic décor, modern, friendly staff"
I had a lovely time at this hotel. The modern décor was lovely. I appreciated the book about Antwerp in the room. They even give a 5 euro credit at the downstairs café if you forego having your room cleaned :) They were very accommodating to giving me a late check-out despite being fully booked that day.

"Close to train station but in quiet area"
This was an excellent hotel for the price. It's a seven minute walk to the train station, yet the neighborhood is quiet. It's around the corner from several interesting restaurants, including a Lebanese one that we went to twice!. A full-scale breakfast was included in the room price.

"Nice Hotel, Highly Recommended"
I recently stayed at the Van der Valk for four nights, and shall soon be staying there again. All the staff I encountered, on Reception, Bar, Restaurant or at breakfast were extremely helpful and really very friendly. The restaurant had a good menu and served good food and there was also a bar menu serving mainly hot dogs and burgers but these were home made and good. They offer a huge choice of, self service, breakfast. They have free, very usable Wifi, and free ground level parking (quite unusual in Antwerp) The only slight downside is the bedroom furniture. The bedroom and bathroom were spotlessly clean and comfortable and well appointed, but the furniture was a little tired. I believe they are in the process of updating this. Great hotel, highly recommended.

"Good hotel and location"
Excellent hotel, glad we didn’t stay near Antwerp Central as it was quite a long way from the centre.1st time in Antwerp so headed for Info.Ctr. at Groen Plaats. Bought a City Card which gets you free entry to Kinneke Brewery,MAS building, other museums,Rubin’s House, buses, trams and metro.Antwerp’s quite compact so you can walk to a lot of places.we got the no.7 tram from Meirburg to MAS bldg,it stops right outside and is a very pretty area near the river and harbour. Walking back to the Cathedral area takes about 20 minutes by the river route.Food and drink is expensive but if you go to the restaurants behind the main square they have some two course offers with bread for £14.50.You can get excellent juicy steaks included in this offer at El Torro 1 and 2.If you like rock music,Kids 2000 has bands on some nights or piped rock music. If you’re on inclusive breakfast at Rubens you won’t need much for lunch, there’s loads of choice. As you enter reception there’s a big jar of apples you can help yourself to ,we just had one of those for lunch. If you need it there’s a small supermarket at Groen Plaats and a few small convenience stores near the square also a pharmacy near the hotel. You get a map when you check in,take it with you when you go out,it also has the metro lines at the bottom which came in very handy.Three nights, two full days was enough time for us to visit the places we wanted to see with the City Card.If you go to the MAS building go to the top for a fantastic city view

"Brussels Comfort"
We stayed two nights at the Hotel Amigo in Brussels. It is right in the heart of the tourist area, so everything is just steps away from the front door. But the hotel felt like a sanctuary from the hustle and bustle of the plaza and streets. The staff couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. The concierge spent a lot of time with me, suggesting places, mapping out points of interest. The doormen were friendly and welcoming. I would definitely go back!

"Very basic accommodations."
Quick, easy check in after a long day of planes and trains. Poor room maintenance, chipped and peeling paint, shoddy, ad-hoc furniture. Thin walls, light doors. Lots of noise from the halls and outside. Room key used to activate power in the room. Free wifi worked ok but required frequent sign-ins. Overall; safe, cheap & cheerful. Good if you're looking for value and aren't worried about frills.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
