Kaivokatu 12, Helsinki - Map
"Lovely building with interesting history "
The staffs were nice and friendly. They were also very knowledgeable about the vicinity and was able to provide useful information (possible places of interest to visit, opening hours, clear directions etc.) The lift was an interesting experience (vintage lifts) that goes to each floor. However, between each floor's there's a "half story" to some more rooms. So we had to climb a few more steps to our room. It was manageable, but people with many/ heavy luggage may find it a little inconvenient.

"Front desk staff very polite and helpful "
We reserved a superior room and we found it could be much spacious if not squeezed by the staircase behind our bed that made the room much rectangular! Front desk very responsive to our requests but the services of housekeeping seemed varied - we found the cover plate of room service left at the corner of our room which was never get removed. Tea bags etc. was never refilled for our 3-night stay. If spoon were provided it would be much better for coffee and tea. During shower water came out of the tub easily and wet the floor even with our "great care". Hope they would improve these areas in future!

"The beds were amazing"
This nice, small hotel is in a convenient location downtown. The rooms are small but very, very comfortable. The bed felt like sleeping on a dream. The breakfast was tasty and plentiful, though a bit crowded at times. The coffee was the best we had in many countries. Just a couple blocks up from the harbor, everything was in walking distance but the street was quiet. Our room had a funny smell initially, but washing down the drain under the sink with hot water took care of it. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

"Excellent hotel, with excellent service"
I was a little apprehensive as to the location: from my experience of Helsinki I realised this was the old Police Station, and knew it wouldn't be as close as some of the other hotels I've stayed in that are closer to the city centre. However, it's about a 3-4 minute walk down Kasarmikatu to Eteläesplanadi meaning that the railway station etc. is really only about 10-15 minutes' walk, so not at all that far. This quickly became irrelevant in any case, given the hotel itself, which is absolutely gorgeous. The staff are ridiculously polite and efficient. Twice daily room service (turn down service in the evening) was excellent. I upgraded my room and got a lovely 55" TV. Saw a speaker in the bathroom ceiling but couldn't get music or TV to play in there - not sure why that was, maybe it's not what I thought. Bathroom was excellent with a great shower over a bath. Nice big sink, and a loo with the usual Finnish bidetta ;-) Really couldn't fault my week-long stay - I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it, or to stay there again.

"Close to airport"
It was ok. Hotels in Germany, chek republic and Scotland for instance were cheaper and much nicer. The hotel was fine I have no complains only that it was much more expensive and was less in terms of value for money then those hotels mention.

Helsinki is calling — find the perfect hotel

Everyone wants to score a deal on travel, but price is just one factor to consider when booking an unforgettable hotel. Whether you’re visiting family, attending a conference or taking a well-earned vacation in Helsinki, having an awesome experience should be a no-brainer.

Hotwire will hook you up! From restful nights near your flight to that prime spot in the city’s heart, we’ve done our research to bring the best options to your fingertips. Book your Helsinki hotel with us now and start your next adventure.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
