This hotel was better than expected, it is more like a resort!! Plenty of things to do and eat, right there at the hotel. Staff there are very friendly and helpful. Lots of the staff speak English, and if they can't figure out what you are asking for, they try to find someone right away to help. There is a travel agency right in the lobby to book any tours that you might want to do. The room was extremely clean and the furniture was in great condition. Plenty of snacks and places to eat at a reasonable price right on site. When we arrived, they did try to get us to upgrade the room, which we decided not to do. We had a "city view" and it would have cost 100 RMB to upgrade to "river view," which was only marginally better. I don't have any kids, so I can't say for sure, but I'd say this hotel has more things to do for kids than I've seen anywhere else in China. There is a feeding zoo with ostriches, but I didn't see that. The hotel is located basically in a big park, and they even have a recommended jogging path for you on a lanyard in the room. The AC was working great, and was definitely needed because it was very humid in Guilin. I've stayed in quite a few other hotels in China, and most of them have inadequate heating and AC systems. Not the case for this hotel. I was pleasantly surprised. This hotel is a GREAT DEAL for the price. Treat yourself and your family by staying here!!!

I am from Australia and I stayed here for four nights while waiting for my long-term apartment to be available. For the money you pay, this is a good hotel. I could not fault the cleanliness of the room. The bed, though a little hard by western standards, was still quite comfortable. The food at each meal I had was of an excellent standard with good variety to choose from to suit most tastes, although if you are hoping for western-style food, forget it!Smoking is permitted everywhere, but that is normal in China, though hard for a non-smoking westerner to get used to, especially in the dining room. The young girls at reception were efficient and business-like, but I don't think friendliness was in their vocabulary, even in mandarin! However, the one young man who worked there was more pleasant, and even went out on the street to help me flag down a taxi one morning.
The internet is available by wireless or ethernet, and is fast but not free.
The hotel is situated on a very busy intersection - like most intersections in Zhengzhou! Traffic is horrendous, and you can expect traffic noise throughout the night, though it lessens in the early morning hours. The noise intrudes even with the windows closed, especially on the ground floor where I was. Another annoyance was the constant, repetitive, dreamy elevator music that was played all day from about 6:45 a.m. till about 10:45 p.m., loud enough in the corridor outside my room to be heard even over the traffic noise!

This hotel was excellent for the price. The room was clean, spacious, well-lit, and very comfortable. Staff spoke very little English, but were always very pleasant and did their best to communicate with you.
There is not much nearby that is not entirely in Chinese, but it is only a short taxi ride from the train/bus station and airport, so transportation within the city is very affordable. It is about 40-50 minutes from the National Park (take a taxi to the bus station, and then a bus to the park... WAY cheaper!)
Significantly cheaper alternative to the pricier hotels located near the park, or the 5-star hotels.
