Reception was efficient and friendly. Hotel meals and Bars, good food, and lovely staff. Casino was TOO loud and noisy for us. we enjoy casinos, hence the reason for staying there. But they were celebrating their 20th Anniversary, which brought in a lot of seat warmers!

We were wonderfully received for our 25th anniversary with rose petals from the door to and on our most comfortable king-size bed, as well as surrounding our tub and sink. This coupled with wine and snacks was a nice touch. The staff was pleasant and the food was delicious. We would visit again.

We are regular visitors to Swakop, and booked at Atlantic Villa for the first time. What a wonderful suprize - luxury accommodation, staff who were both friendly and sincere, and quality finishes. We could not have asked for more.
Not only was the unit spacious, the lounge area offers great athmosphere, and is a lovely way of spending evenings next to a fire relaxing, reading and (as we had to) working.
This was the best price to performance ration we experienced in Swakopmund - and during our whole trip to Namibia and South Africa.

The staff here are fantastic; the view is stellar; and I slept to the soothing sound of the ocean waves. I've stayed at the Strand, the Plaza, a couple of guesthouses, and the Beach Hotel is my favorite. View, service, and breakfast is great, too, and dinner at the Anchor Point restaurant was outstanding.

Here is the deal on the location- THE FAMOUS SAND DUNES OF SOUSSESVLEI ARE A 2 HOUR DRIVE. Since the drive from Windhoek on poorly maintained, gravel roads to the lodge was 4.5 hours that was fine with us but limited access for sunrise and sunset to enjoy the breathtaking red dunes.
The setting of Namib Desert was beautiful with compressed sand dunes as a back drop that were lit at night. The room was comfortable though air conditioning was limited to hours decided by hotel. There were marked walking trails complete with written guides available at reception. The food was buffet style and fine.
Yes, I recommend it for 2 nights as long as the traveler understands the distance to the dunes. On the Expedia site the lodge states the distance to the park is 60 kilometers to the gate. The dunes are another hour inside the gate- a bit misleading to the tune of 2 hours round trip.

we had an unexpectedly fantastic stay at the Hammerstein Lodge. The staff is friendly and helpful, the grounds are lovely, our room was comfortable, and the property is teeming with wildlife (from the resident Sprongbocks, leopard, Bobcats, and cheetahs, to the many others that pass through on a daily basis). The location is great-- though it isn't actually in Sesriem, it's about 40 min south on the c19. Still very easy access to Sossusvlei, and once you're there the location will feel just right. I highly recommend a stopover here.
