This hotel is Physically imposing. I was amazed at the design and implementation of the structure and facilities. It was hard for me to understand its shear size.
GOOD points :
VERY VERY CLEAN
ROOMS ARE VERY GOOD
Staff are polite but have no concept of service, most are OLD men and that means a rather slow and unimportant service level. (Maybe house keeping should be put in charge of front of house.)
The food in the Buffet and the Italian was EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE and of such poor quality it was almost inedible.
Buffet for two 8000 Dz I would not have paid 500 ea. Indeed I have paid much less and received the highest quality food in restaurants.
Do not get me wrong this hotel is a 'GEM' just do not use the eateries. Get in a taxi go to the most expensive Algerian restaurants and still return back with change to spare.
Would I stay there again?? if the company pays yes! On a personal budget the service and food any ACCOR group is far better and more cost effective.

I notice that many of the reviews of this hotel are poor. I have to say that they don't reflect my own experience. We spent three nights here, and had a lovely stay. It's true that this is not the slick, off-the-peg experience of an international business hotel, but who needs another one of those? If you'd prefer to stay in a renovated Ottoman palace with beautiful architecture, friendly staff and a lovely garden, this is the top place in Algiers. I stayed here over 20 years ago, and the place is exactly as I remembered it, which is mainly a very good thing. Some updating is required - there is room for improvement when it comes to the bathrooms, for instance, though ours worked fine - but overall this is a characterful, and very lovely place. There was a pop-up Greek restaurant on the terrace during our stay, which was a good addition to the hotel, and we had some lovely cakes one afternoon. Reviews had led me to believe that the breakfast was appalling. It wasn't as good as it could have been but it wasn't bad either. There is a real sense of history here - the bar is lined with photos of luminaries from Edith Piaf to Albert Camus who have stayed in the hotel in its heyday, and something of that glamour is still discernible today. Do stay - you won't regret it!

I stayed at two weeks at the Best Western in Oran. The staff were very friendly and communicated with me in English (unfortunately I do not know French or Arabic). They helped me to exchange Euros to local currency at very competitive rates and also provide excellent suggestions to do some local sight seeing. Breakfast choice was very good. Will definitely this hotel to anyone who travels to Oran.

This is the second time my husband and I have stayed at this hotel and it's our favorite place to stay in Oran. Beautiful view of the city and the sea. The staff is very friendly and always makes us feel welcomed.
