The hotel has quite a history; as a 19C folly, an orphanage and now as a hotel. The staff go out of their way to engage with their guests. Some reviewers have found this a little odd, but visiting it in winter I found it close to full with Irish regulars, many well known to the staff. It is an old building so expect a few cracks and rough points, but everything was working and our room, was clean and comfortable.

This B&B was a lovely surprise. It had views out over the bay and the Atlantic. There was plenty of parking and the host and her daughter were so friendly and relaxed. Our room was large and everything you could need was there. It is clear that the host has gone to considerable effort to make sure that she had the range of services available to meet the needs of a range of people who may be visiting.

The hotel is situated in a lovely part of Connemara and the staff are excellent, however, the hotel is in dire need of upgrading and modernisation. The rooms are large enough but dated. The TVs in the room have only a few channels. The water supply can best be described as 'interesting' with a very engaging colour which is not to everyones taste. The food served downstairs is of a very good quality but expensive. Would return but only if there is money spent on updating the place.

Home to rugged mountain peaks, a multitude of lakes, and sandy beaches, Connemara is the name given to the western portion of County Galway, which lies between the Lough Corrib and the Atlantic, and is not always marked on maps. Most tourists come to Connemara to experience nature and see how the landscape has inspired painters and writers throughout time.
