"Nice, clean and serene hotel"
We loved this hotel. Everything about it was awesome except maybe for the other people who checked in at the same time we did. I was waiting for the hotel clerk to get off the phone with another client so I sat down right in front of the desk. Other people came in, saw me there and proceeded to go right up to the desk. They didn't even bother to ask if I was waiting in line. Then...another couple walked in and did the same. I guess I was just waiting to see if the clerk would ask me to come up to the front...oh well. Other than that incident, our stay was excellent.

"Beautiful Place, friendly staff, but..."
My husband and 10 year old daughter just stayed here recently. We stayed in a cozy room that had a king bed and a loft area with a double. The grounds are impressive and feature a pool, spa, community lake with free paddle boats, a chip and put golf course, and a community fire pit (bring makings for s'mores!). We ate at the restaurant AND and their brewery. Service at both was amazing. I cannot believe I paid $14 for a margarita that was served in a tumbler glass (even if it was quite tasty). The hotel itself is amazing, but the room is where we had the most issues. Both of the bed mattresses were super firm and VERY uncomfortable. The pillows were flat, too. We never had a solid night's sleep. We were there during a major heat wave, and the air conditioner had to be used throughout the night because the sun/air vent in the loft was not working. So we left the air conditioner on all night. That thing was so loud, that we could not fall asleep. Once we did fall asleep, we would wake up to the darn thing clicking on and off throughout the night. When we finally woke up after our first night, I was hoping for a nice, hot shower. I got a hot shower, but with very little water pressure. Don't get your hopes up too much for the breakfast buffet, either. It's simple foods like yogurt, hard-boiled eggs, cereal with milk, danishes, and coffee. The coffee was amazing, though! Bottom line: beautiful place, uncomfortable rooms. I expected more for the price.

"In the Middle of Nature"
We arrived Sunday went to dinner locally. The host/owner gave us materials regarding eating places locally. Each breakfast was a work of art and delicious. The do not provide lunch or dinner, but cookies are provided in the afternoon. We played Plumas Pines in the afternoon--nice course with attentive staff. Years ago Willie Mays had a place here and played the course. Tuesday my wife and I hiked the lakes trail which we had done for many years. Unfortunately at 87 I ran out of air half way along caused by going from sea level to 5/6 thousand feet. Waitresses said it was not uncommon. My wife at 5 foot two became my hero by being my middle ear for two miles pushing and pulling. Bob, the owner of the B and B, handled calls from our relatives and other needs very well. Another positive was the interesting other folks enjoying the atmosphere here. Oh, I recovered quickly after coming to a lower elevation.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
