"Great except food and beach"
Pros: Lovely bures and facilities very friendly staff, not very crowded, a great place to rest Cons: Very expensive and out of context food, beach is so so. Food is Los Angeles prices and Italian cuisine!! who wants Italian food where I can get it everyday in the US? We had to really ask hard and investigate to get local food. Beach is not what you would expect of Fiji, especially in low tide, which is very unpredictable, you are stuck with land activities. Also very windy location with high currents, which renders most water activities useless in high tide.

"Barefoot Manta - Yes"
We came the second time to stay at Barefoot, that says a lot, does it. We love the ensuite tents with the open bathrooms, how close they are to the beach, don't close the 'front door" completely, watch the palms and the ocean in the moonlight. Its not a 5 star accommodation, but its full of Fiji Island charm, barefoot all day. Staff is fantastic, friendly, always smiling. Food improved tremendously, now you have a choice of 4 meals for lunch and dinner with excellent quality. Try the Fijian style marinated fish, it was fabulous. We got lucky and saw the Manta rays, its worth going on the boat, you will be dropped into the channel a couple of times to make sure you saw one. Did the Introduction dive and ended up doing the whole course, because it was fantastic and great Dive teachers Bruce, Bio and Heather made it easy but professional at the same time. You have a beach for Sunrise and one for Sunset, snorkeling is fantastic and always possible. Robyn the Manager goes the extra mile to help you out if needed. We love it there and will hopefully be back.

"Good location, bathrooms, great snorkeling"
Pros: snorkeling right in front, location is very nice, very lush green, open bathroom is fantastic Cons: super slow food service, you would have to easily spend 1.5 hours for lunch or dinner. limited food selection. Nobody needs 5 star hotel presentation in an island! why need to make the food super fancy plates etc. in the expense of making people wait for an 1 hour? serve simple local island food, that is why people come here.

"A beautiful, remote resort on a pristine island"
A long white beach shared with just a few people, water as clear as glass, a spectacular reef for diving, stylish and comfortable accommodation (with air-conditioning and fans), very good food and beautiful, friendly staff who sing in gorgeous multi-part harmonies morning, noon and night. A small village nearby where you can meet Fijian people and get some insight into the culture, otherwise it's just long, lazy days, reading and snorkelling in paradise.

"Real Fiji experience"
From when we first hopped on the transfer boat and the beach Botaira was one of my favourites. The welcome and main hunt just completely what you want a FIJI to be. Homely, friendly, welcoming and traditional. The staff are lovely and sang through each of our meals. The gave a great concert on the first night with traditional singing and dance. The beach front villa was very large with beautiful Fiji pattern painted on the high ceiling. I had a nice bathroom and hot water in the evenings and a fridge. They provide fresh water in the room daily and had a good selection of free activates and even though at dinner there were a few guests you felt like that the whole place was just yours. We did a village visit and this is well worth it. Snorkelling and swimming is good as is many places in Fiji. I did not want to leave and I would return in a heart beat.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
