"Lovely hotel in a surprisingly nice little town"
This town was a find - the only place on our two week tour of Ireland that was unplanned. We needed a place to stay when driving from south to north. Love this town. The hotel is great. Old, but with a comfortable gentille appealing lobby - chesterfields, chairs, coffee tables, plush carpet - the sort of place you enter and want to stay. Friendly staff at reception. We got a large very comfortable room with two single beds and a double. Great for what I call spreading out. The bathroom was spacious and modern. Lots of electrical outlets. Quick wifi. This was a great night.

"FIRST CLASS IN EVERY RESPECT"
My husband and I were doing a 'memory lane' visit to the Boyle area of Ireland after twenty years away and booked Rosdarrig House for our first night's stay having read previous good reports. We were not to be disappointed. Rosdarrig House is a large well run B&B in beautiful gardens just off the 'old' N4 - well worth coming off the 'new' N4 to sample its delights. The owners, Gerry and Brenda, are warm, friendly and welcoming and cannot do enough for you. The room we had, three bedroomed at the front of the house, was clean, bright and beautifully furnished with many pretty touches. There were electric blankets on the extremely comfortable beds - very welcome for my cold footed husband! - with quality bedlinen and a well stocked tray of drinks and biscuits to hand. There was a flat screen TV with UK aswell as Irish channels, fridge, hairdrier and a selection of useful, good quality toiletries. I was particularly impressed by the lovely rugs on the polished wooden floor - but I'm sure the other guests were not so impressed with our late arrival as this beautiful floor squeaked loudly! (Our apologies to any of those particular guests, who may happen to be reading this report!). The full Irish Breakfast was exceptional, freshly cooked, tasty, non greasy and it filled us until our evening meal. The warmth, friendliness and joviality of the 'Breakfast Team' was a joy to experience and my husband for one can't wait until our next visit!!

"Reasonably location for North-Central Ireland"
We were only there 1 night as we had things to do locally very early the next am. The room was big, clean, the double bed was big and comfortable. There were also 2 singles, a useful family room. The windows were Quadruple glazed, which blocked out the outside noise. The bathroom/toilet was big and clean. There were 3 bedside lights, which did not work and a TV, which did not work. We reported these and the response was that someone might be able to do something about 8pm (4 hours away) However the receptionist then appeared several times to look at the problem and clearly consulted with someone as on the next visit she located the trip switches and resetting one got the TV to work and 1 light. She brought us a bottle of wine and offered to get us breakfast in the nextdoor cafe in the morning. We thanked her for her efforts but were leaving at 06:30h, so we missed out on the offer. In general, a perfectly good location, just across the road from the river Shannon, good restaurants and pubs a few steps away. Let down a bit by minor things which routine housekeeping ought to remedy. I was impressed by the attention to the windows as it can be a noisy town. PS there was only one door on what was a big spacious (2 door) shower but it was big enough that only a little spray escaped

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
