Why rent a car in Maui?
Snorkel with sea turtles, learn the ancient Hawaiian sport of surfing or watch the sunrise from atop a volcano – Maui offers a little bit of everything you’re looking for in your Hawaii vacation or once-in-a-lifetime honeymoon. To see and do it all, a rental car is a practical necessity.

Where to go in Maui
Most visitors stay along the South Maui or West Maui coasts, both lined with white-sand beaches for swimming, surfing, snorkeling and show-stopping sunsets. On the East Maui coast, the Road to Hana is the island’s deservedly famous scenic drive. It starts from the surf town of Paia, then winds past waterfalls and across one-lane bridges just wide enough for a Jeep to pass. Driving all the way to the summit of Haleakala volcano, high in the clouds above 10,000ft elevation, is another must-do.

Getting around Maui
It’s easy to drive around Maui with its well-marked and free-flowing highways. A little traffic congestion is usual in the tourist town of Lahaina and in Kahului, where the main airport is located. Traffic can slow to a crawl through small towns and resort areas such as Kihei, but delays will seem short to most mainland drivers. Free parking is available almost everywhere, except in Lahaina, where pay parking lots are an option. At some public beaches, free parking lots tend to fill up early in the day.

Maui car rental locations
All the major rental agencies can be found at Kahului Airport (OGG), as well as at locations around the island. Wherever you pick up your car, you’ll get a great deal on your Maui car rental from Hotwire.
