My wife and I spent 10 nights here, and would gladly return, and recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a relaxing, interesting and pampered getaway.
We took the privileged upgrade when offered at check in, and found it the perfect addition to this stay.
As per the previous reviews, the beach is incredible, and the local wildlife, cootamundi's, iguana's, birds, were friendly and very cute.
Staff, facilities, and food were great.

Good stay, hotel dated but very quiet and peaceful. Lovely setting and great staff. Food isn't the best. But if you are looking for a quiet, peaceful trip with a great jungle setting and lots to look at and do then his is the place. My kids loved it. Very authentic. So much to see. Loved the cenote. That was the best to snorkel in. The water was so clear and I got to swim with a manatee for free. How many resorts have manatee's? It was great.

"The hotel is in excellent spot among other hotels"
Stayed here last week of November. Barceló Maya has four hotels situated next to each other and takes an enormous beachfront property; it was confusing which hotel is better and where it's located in the mix when you've never been there before. I booked Caribe hotel, but it ends up Caribe&Beach is the same hotel. I checked into Caribe, but my bracelet said Beach. Nonetheless, the hotel situated in an excellent spot among other hotels. It is the very last property, and there is plenty of spotlessly clean big beach, half of it stretches away from the hotel buildings and looks like wild paradise. Water is also almost rock-less, very clean and gorgeous. If one don't like crowded hotels, big pools, and like more relaxed stay, this is it! Where on the other hand Colonial squeezed between Caribe/Beach & Palace Deluxe, and it's more crowded with families/kids, and the beach is more trafficked and crowded. Palace Deluxe is the most expensive luxury hotel with a beautiful property, but it takes the spot where there is very little beach available right in front of it because half of it are rocks and the beach is narrow stretching into Colonial beach.

29 room Italian Villa style along a beautiful seems pristine coastline in eastern Mexico. Staff and service was fantastic. Every need we had was met immediately. Beachfront was very private and super comfortable cabanas. Plenty of shade when we needed it. Even found a little cove about 100 yards down that was super clear water and no waves. Very cool and private spot. Rooms super clean daily. Loved the sound system in the rooms with great music on a supplied mini ipod. Very nice touch. Had a private "wading pool" that was surrounded by jungle tree plants. Super private.
We had a couple of issues with the "pool". Ours was more like a hot tub size and the heater function was difficult to figure out. Had a plunger and we never knew if it was working so we had to call the (excellent) staff to get the heat turned on. Again great response from the staff.
Only other issue was the restaurant food was not up to the tastes of a high quality place like this and the prices a bit high for the flavors we experienced in the nights we dined. But, again superb service!

Just south of Puerto Aventuras, Xpu-Ha’s broad, powdery, white-sand beach is widely regarded among the peninsula’s most beautiful. There’s plenty of room to string up a hammock and relax, sunbathe, or swim in the surf.
