The rates for this hotel were acceptable. The room was relatively clean, although we did find something under the edge of the bed, that should have been disposed of if it had been cleaned properly....The hotel is centrally located to dining and movies, also easy access to other areas. If you stay on the first floor you can drive up to your room which is convenient. They accept pets which is a plus if travelling with your furry friends. The only thing they could've done better in my opinion, was to have a hot tub/pool and offer breakfast.

"It is what it is.. A hotel in Downtown Springfield"
I needed a decent hotel in Springfield with a pool, and this lived up to my expectations. The room was clean and comfortable, although the public areas were dated and a bit musty smelling. The pool is 20 yards long and well maintained, large enough to get in a good swim workout on the road. They must allow pets to my dissatisfaction. The people in the room next to me had their yappy dogs with them. My one pet peeve (no pun intended) is a barking dog in the middle of the night. Its the whole reason I quit living in suburbia and moved to a no pets condo. Anyway, when the dogs weren't yapping, the owners were trying to shush the dogs to keep them from yapping. Had I known that pets were allowed, I would have insisted on a room away from the pet owners.

Many family members stayed at 1820 and it worked beautifully. The rooms were lovely and comfortable and clean. The staff went above and beyond in many instances and were consistently delightful. The innkeeper, Pam, was particularly warm, personable and generous. The complimentary breakfast was quite nice ( very good coffee!) there is a great free shuttle and guests can even borrow bikes.
I hope to stay at 1820 again. And I recommend guests read the fun history of the house.
