Nice old hotel with a modern wing containing large rooms, very close to the town centre and cathedral. The weather was to cold to sit out but the hotel has a very nice private garden area. There is also ample on site off street parking for guests. My only negative would be breakfast which was a buffet but at £10 I wasn't over price.

Hotel on one level in beautiful setting next to Marwell Zoo. A series of 'pods' containing bedrooms joined by glass-sided walkways. The main part of the hotel and the bedroom areas were warm and cosy on what was a cold weekend, but the walkways were freezing cold - no heating whatsoever. There were two functions while we were there - which we had been told about a couple of days before our visit - so no dining room for the evening meal but bar food was available. Bedroom had doorway directly to outside area - which was unexpected but a lovely idea.

The room was comfortable and clean except for the bucket chair being a little grubby. We had clean towels every day and it was warm and welcoming. Only problem we experienced was that the DaysInn is on the south bound carriageway of the M3 so every night after our conference in Winchester we had to drive up the motorway towards Basingstoke in order to be south bound again , which was a 15 mile journey.

The ancient capital of England, and once the seat of King Alfred, historic Winchester is famous for its magnificent cathedral begun in 1079, and venerable Winchester College founded in 1382. The picturesque area around the Cathedral Green has changed little over the centuries, and offers good places to eat, drink and shop. A short walk across the water meadows, the 12th-century Hospital of St Cross is England’s most perfectly preserved almshouse.
