Regency is a little bit rundown, but it is clean and the staff was excellent. Really minor effort could really boost the reviews of this place, and I suspect many will really give it bad reviews due to the dated qualities, and things like weeds growing up through the parking lot. I suspect they get enough business where there isn't a need to address it. If it were me that ran it I think I would have to spruce it up out of pride, but everyone has different priorities. If you aren't superficial, and you are looking to save quite a bit of money and have a step above a budget hotel, this may be the place. While the furniture was dated, and hallway rugs need replacing, the rooms were comfortable. Good mattresses, our room also had a futon/couch and was quite spacious. I don't know if this is standard but it wasn't advertised in the reservation. The location is a bit surprising, it is off a side street from a main drag, and I suspect you could easily mix it. You typically expect such hotels to be in a more sprawling area, and it is quite dense around it. Very convenient to Six Flags (perhaps the most except for a couple questionable looking old fashioned roadside motels) and the Big E.

The pool and hot tub were out of order. The hotel should of contacted their patrons to let them know ahead of time. This was the one reason we decided to stay with Candlewood was for the pool and the hot tub.

The hotel is no Ritz Carlton but it was nice just the same. It met, and in a couple of instances, exceeded my expectations. I was quite impressed by the cleanliness of the room and bathroom and the beds were very comfortable. It was very close to shopping and more restaurants and only 3 km from the Big E. I hotel itself seemed to be in decent shape and it was surprisingly quiet considering it was on a busy street. The room had a nice little fridge which was great for keeping leftovers in and the water cold.

Across the Connecticut River from Springfield, this town is home to the Josiah Day House, the oldest brick saltbox-style house in the U.S. The Big E, New England's largest fair, takes place each autumn at the Eastern States Exposition. The area is also home to Storrowton Village, a living museum that recreates life in 19th-century New England. Six Flags New England is a few miles south in Agawam.
