"Great choice!"
We really enjoyed this place! Borgarnes is a nice little town to stay in overnight with stuff to see and do. The hotel is easily accessible to town and a very enjoyable place to stay.

"Peaceful in nice setting"
We needed to break our journey from the South to the Western Fjords and this hotel seemed to tick all the boxes in terms of location and facilities. Like many buildings in Iceland it may look unassuming from the outside, but it was comfortable and enjoyable. Our room was on the ground floor with a little private yard where one could sit outside (alas, it was raining). The room had an efficient radiator that warmed up the room in no time (although June, the maximum temperature was 10C when we visited). The room was a bit on the small side, but this was not a problem given we only stayed for a night. We enjoyed petting the friendly animals that roam around: dogs and very tame sheep that came to us and asked for cuddles like cats. There are also cows and pigs in large enclosures with plenty of space to roam about. When we went for a walk on the hill above the hotel two of the dogs accompanied us as if they were ours. Dining was of high quality and reasonable price in a nice restaurant with lovely views over the valley.

"Amazing food"
The food in the restaurant was simply amazing. The breakfast buffet was incredible, and the dinner was absolutely delicious. The best meals we had in Iceland. The shower water smelled of sulfur, but everything else about the hotel was great.

"Cancellation Assistance"
Due to bad weather in the area and cancellation of planned activities, we needed to cancel our second (previously booked) night. The hotel staff advised as that since the booking was through Expedia, we need to make the cancellation through Expedia. A 30 minute phone call and conversation with Expedia representative proved fruitless, there was a lot of confusion, back-and-forth questioning, and finally we were told that the hotel did not approve the cancellation and that's that...sorry. Well, after talking to the hotel staff again, this was not the case at all. The hotel wanted to help us out, but the conversations with Expedia proved to be extremely difficult. The hotel manager even came in on her day off to help resolve the issue...which she thankfully did. In this case, Expedia was the problem.

"Nice luxury surprise"
We had a change of plans while we were in Akureyri, and had to find a last minute booking. This was seemingly the only place available that was on the way to our next destination, and while the 40km of gravel road to get to it in our little car was a little much (and unexpected), it was well worth it once we arrived. The room was spacious, clean, new, modern, and we had a very much welcomed private bathroom. The only reason it didn't get five stars was that the hot water was spotty, and the water pressure isn't great, but otherwise it was just what we needed. The wifi is slow to almost nonexistent, but you don't come to Iceland for internet. We also ate dinner at the restaurant and the food was great. They had some real creative dishes and were well executed. Service was a little clunky, but I have no complaints about it.

"Nice hotel but remote location "
Nice hotel and really nice staff. Restaurant on site has great food. Room was clean. Located adjacent and part of Bifrost University. The only downside is it's located a little removed from anything. It's not actually located in Borganes. Would have preferred to stay closer to or within Borganes.

"Nice Room, Fun Staff"
After a long drive I was happy to arrive at the hotel and be greeted by Ben, who took my dinner order so I could eat as soon as I'd had a shower. The room was clean and warm, and the bed was very comfortable. I visited in late September, and while there were a couple of other (very nice) guests, the place was pleasantly isolated and quiet. I enjoyed my dinner and had a lovely conversation with Ben - would have liked to have stayed up if I hadn't been so tired. Breakfast was the standard breads, eggs, etc., with good coffee and the bonus of a waffle maker. I am hoping I am able to go back to Iceland in the spring or summer and would definitely stay here again as it seems like this would be a relatively peaceful hotel even in the busy season.

West Iceland is calling — find the perfect hotel

Everyone wants to score a deal on travel, but price is just one factor to consider when booking an unforgettable hotel. Whether you’re visiting family, attending a conference or taking a well-earned vacation in West Iceland, having an awesome experience should be a no-brainer.

Hotwire will hook you up! From restful nights near your flight to that prime spot in the city’s heart, we’ve done our research to bring the best options to your fingertips. Book your West Iceland hotel with us now and start your next adventure.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
