I traveled to Des Moines for the saddest of all possible reasons: to bury my parents. I found the Homewood Suites to be extremely accommodating, not only for basic lodging needs, but also for an unforeseen need -- to find a place for family to gather after the service. The area off the lobby, where breakfast is served, was perfect for that purpose, and available to us when we needed it. Having a full kitchen in the room is a big plus. And I didn't get a chance to use the pool, but it looked inviting.
Location was ideal for convenience. I do think there could be better urban planning and easier way-finding n the Jordan Creek Area, but Homewood Suites was relatively easy to get in an out of.
A couple small things: The wall plug by our bathroom vanity was on the far left -- not ideal for a right-handed person using a curling iron. Also, those air pots used for coffee and hot water (at breakfast) do not hold heat very well, which is why the hot water was tepid when it was dispensed.
I hope to come back under happier circumstances.

I had a wonderful experience at this hotel. I was there from late Tuesday night through Monday morning and everything was wonderful. The staff was so friendly and pleasant to be around. The only thing that I wish is that the pillows had more support.

We stayed here for the Des Moines half marathon. It was a nice hotel for a quick trip and a place to sleep. They had everything you needed - blow dryer, kitchen cookware, and a comfortable bed. The staff was also very nice - huge plus!

The suburb of West Des Moines is located 7 miles from downtown Des Moines. The city's Historic Valley Junction district offers a unique neighborhood shopping experience, live music, and special events. Another major draw to the area is the Jordan Creek Town Center, featuring an enclosed shopping center, a variety of dining options, a 3.5-acre lake surrounded by trails, and an amphitheater.
