"Nice hotel very near everything we wanted to see."
The hotel has a slightly faded grandeur and was very pleasantly staffed. Surprisingly quiet as it was in the centre of Palermo and very convenient for all the things we wanted to do.

"Centrally located hotel with a helpful staff."
We arrived in Palermo on the overnight ferry from Napoli and took a cab directly to the hotel. Because it was only 7:00am, we couldn't check into our room, but the desk manager offered to check our luggage so we could go out without worrying about it. When we left to find coffee, one of the staff was coming off his shift and showed us where we could find a nice restaurant on the map. When we returned to the hotel around 2pm after sightseeing, our room was ready and we were able to begin enjoying our stay.

"A great hotel!"
My husband and I recently stayed at Hotel Alma and it was one of the best hotel experiences we've ever had, even when compared to many 5 star hotels we've stayed at. It is a lovely hotel in a great location within walking distance to the historic district, with warm, thoughtfully decorated, very modern rooms, extremely comfortable beds, complementary minibars (I don't think I have ever encountered that before!), absolutely spotless in every area. However, what really makes this a superb experience are the owners and hosts, Paolo and Antonella. Never have I encountered such lovely, warm, welcoming hosts who go out of their way to make guests feel welcome and to be as helpful as possible. The only problem is that Antonella's baking ruined us for any other breakfasts in Sicily! Every morning she bakes the most wonderful variety of Sicilian cakes (varying the selection each day) that are simply delicious (lemon, orange, pistachio, cassata, fruit, etc.) - each one moist, flavorful, and light, a delightful way to begin the day. The rest of the staff mirror the owners as they are unfailingly helpful and pleasant. If you are going to Palermo, don't even consider staying anywhere else - this is simply the best place to stay!

"Comfortable hotel in quiet street with good buses"
The hotel is clean, comfortable and modern. We had a basic room which was still a decent size with an en suite shower room. The bed was good. Reception and breakfast staff were friendly and helpful. The location is just a block from Politeama (named for Theatre Politeama rather than that actual piazzas), which with neighbouring piazza Sturzo is one of the main centres for both AMAT city buses (Mondello, Central Station, Norman Palace etc) and intercity coaches to/from the west (Airport, Trapani/Erice, Castelvetrano). There are ticket offices for all the main coach services and the only AMAT booth that sells multi-day city bus tickets (a bargain at less than 3 Euro/day/person for unlimited travel in the city) all in the same street (v Turati) - AMAT actually on an island in Liberte). Dangerously there is an awesome ice cream shop one block away just off Sturzo - 3 flavours - 1.5 Euro, and to damage larger budgets rather than waistlines via Liberte, the next street but one is full of designer shops Gucci etc. There is a Carrefour supermarket within easy walking on via Liberte. The historic centre of Palermo is walkable and certainly easily busable from Politeama. We got the bus to the Central Station fora rail trip to Cefalu and a coach to Agrigento). Getting to the station took 15mins approx on the bus, you wouldn't walk it readily. We found good restaurants in the back streets of the historic town and OK but more expensive ones local to the hotel.

Via Maqueda is calling — find the perfect hotel

Everyone wants to score a deal on travel, but price is just one factor to consider when booking an unforgettable hotel. Whether you’re visiting family, attending a conference or taking a well-earned vacation in Via Maqueda, having an awesome experience should be a no-brainer.

Hotwire will hook you up! From restful nights near your flight to that prime spot in the city’s heart, we’ve done our research to bring the best options to your fingertips. Book your Via Maqueda hotel with us now and start your next adventure.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
