We were in town visiting family for the holidays. At check-in, we needed to visit three rooms to find one that would work. The first did not have a closet. Yes, we found that to be odd, too. The second was next to a very communicative dog, who might have settled down and refrained from announcing our every move, but we were tired and didn't want to take the chance. The final room was just fine. With each effort to find the right room, the hotel staff (Gary) was great and willing to help us in any way possible.

While they are upgrading facilities, they should make guests comfortable with high grade bedding and linens. The towels we had were threadbare and the bedding was disgusting.
However the gardens are beautiful and we stayed here because we have wonderful memories of past stays at this classic hotel by the beach in Ventura.

This hotel is close to shopping, the freeway and a major street in Ventura. The drawbacks are that the noise level and location aren't the best. But if you're hanging your hat and need a comfortable and clean room, this isn't a bad choice for the price.

It doesn't look like much from the street, but the staff was supremely nice and accommodating, and the rooms looked like they had been renovated recently. Facilities were clean. Its on a busy street, but I wasn't disturbed by local traffic. I had a minor issue with my room but the staff addressed it and might it right quickly.
