We stayed at this resort for 9 days and loved it. It is in a beautiful location. It is extremely peaceful and feels almost as if you're there by yourself. It is away from the hustle and bustle of much of Bali. There is buggy service around the resort - a good things because it is built into the side of a large hill. The restaurant is excellent too and the spa overlooks the Ayung River. It has beautiful art and carvings everywhere. There were a few small problems (see below) that the owner can fix:
1) While the restaurant is excellent (great food, great presentation), the menu never changes (bad for more than 3 day stay). There is only one place to eat and its too fancy (and expensive) for everyday - ok for the 1 or 2x a week you want to splurge.
2) The fitness facility is pretty bad - equipment is ok, but it is in a dump - this hotel has such great surroundings, why should it feel like someone's basement?
3) The housekeeping in the room is just OK - not up to the standards of rest of the hotel.

Enjoyed our stay here with good rooms and amenities and a variety of pools. It is very close to the monkey forest and has a taxi/transport stand opposite. Getting breakfast orders right and in a timely fashion was a little bit difficult but all the staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

From the moment we arrived at the Hanging Gardens we were in awe of the beautiful setting and expansive views. We were greeted with a welcome drink, signed in very quickly, given a brief tour of the facilities and escorted to our bungalow. This was not a romantic getaway as I was was traveling with my daughter, however this is a very romantic setting and I would highly recommend this hotel as a couples or honeymoon location for at least a night or two while exploring Bali.
The facilities are very impressive with many levels connected by both stairs and funiculars for easy access. The bar and restaurant levels are open to the expansive rainforest views and overlook an incredible multi-tier pool which juts out over the steep slopes making for a magnificent setting and great photos.
We enjoyed a first rate dinner with cocktails at the open air restaurant. They also have a cafe on a lower level next to the Spa which we treated ourselves to. I had a 1-hour "Bali Massage" which started with tea in the spa followed by a short walk to one of several spa bungalows complete with full bathroom, double tables and open air windows overlooking the hillsides. This was a very relaxing and professional full-body massage for which I never felt rushed and lasted longer than the 60-minutes.
Our bungalow was first rate and even better than I expected. I included our own small heated pool with disappearing edge, cover couch area and tanning area complete with exterior bar and lounge.

This is the best hotel ever. It is away from the hustle and bustle of Ubud and the hotel itself is very small and friendly. I loved every minute here. The staff are the best. It is so beautiful that even I could take nice pix. We stayed in the "mansion" (personal preference) and it was a great room. Four story building with two rooms on each floor with a corridor between them. No common walls. The rooms are large and have large sliding glass doors on two walls. Large lanais where you can have tea. Thought it would be quiet but the room upstairs is a bit noisy. Yes, the roosters will crow in the morning but it's actually not that bad. The restaurant is good but stick with the Indonesian food. The hamburgers are iffy. Tea time is an absolute pleasure. Loved it. The transport was very generous and would pick you up anywhere anytime. The traffic can be bad in Ubud though. I am so glad I chose not to stay close to town. We hardly ever left the hotel. Very relaxing. The amenities are generous with bottles of shampoo etc. not just little packets. The staff was amazing and very accommodating. Beware the short trekking event on Sat. It is not for the fainthearted. Not once did the guide slow down, lend a hand, or worry about the tourists stumbling along behind him. Yes, I did step into the muddy rice field.

Ubud is the arts and cultural centre of the island. This charming mountain settlement is 25 km (1 hour’s drive) north of Denpasar and comprises 14 villages dotted with palaces, temples, museums, galleries, shops, arts and crafts, and excellent restaurants. Other than a few nightspots, village life is quiet and serene. Don’t miss the nightly traditional dance performances and nearby Monkey Forest Park.
