"Beautiful Hotel at a Perfect Location"
From the moment I arrived, the staff was so nice, my room was ready even though I was quite early. The room was beautiful! Like stepping back into the Gilded Age. Beds were incredibly comfortable, great big screen television, beautiful view. Breakfast was delicious, the wait staff was attentive without "hovering"~~Michele, our server, was so sweet! Great food! The front desk was incredibly helpful with the Mansion Tours, gave us maps, brochures AND an umbrella to borrow! The Roof Top Bar was fun, too. Gym was super nice. All in all, my experience with Hotel Viking was no less than excellent. Cannot wait to go back!

"Nice Hotel very close to beach"
After refusing to check into a neighboring hotel due to lack of cleanliness this hotel was 100% better and the location was also more ideal (closer to beach, more accommodations).

"Quick holiday getaway & meetup with family."
The Mill Street Inn is conveniently located in the heart of Newport. The staff do a great job making you feel welcome and your stay a pleasant experience. The Inn itself has a beautiful decor with nice updates to the rooms including modern appointments to the bathrooms. On the negative side the appointments in our sitting area were showing wear and signs of repeated use. The sofa was worn and the entire frame sagged. There was a single chair that at one time had a modern look was now stained, worn and not very comfortable. We had family visit us prior to heading out for dinner and the chair and sofa were simply inadequate even for a short visit. The hotel staff were accomodating and brought over two chairs but made it known that the chairs were from the breakfast area and needed to be returned prior to breakfast the following morning. Our suite was a king deluxe with a pullout accomodating a third person which was our teenage son. The bathroom was off the sitting area where he slept. We didn't expect two restrooms, but the overall room/bathroom layout was such that we had to carefully maneuver obstacles in the dark to make it to the restroom off the sitting area without waking him up and stubbing our toes on the furnture that was moved to accomodate his stay in tight quarters. Overall our stay was a pleasant experience and we would stay again. We do look forward to updates to the furniture in the suites for our next stay. Happy New Year to readers of our review.

"Easy access to Newport"
The hotel appears to have had some renovations in recent years, but has an overall older feel about it. The hallways had a strong smell of something that reminded me of laundry detergent. Not a bad smell, but very strong! The lobby was new and airy, the rest of the hotel was typical of older style motels. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We used the shuttle to get into town one day, ($3 per person) but used uber afterwards as we had 4 in our party making the price about the same ($7 or $8 depending on where we were dropped off then add a tip on top). The beds were comfortable, pillows slightly too hard for my tastes, the air conditioning unit was loud as it clicked on and off but didn't keep us awake. The location is very convenient to everything and we would absolutely stay there again.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
