We were in Cherokee this weekend celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary, and had booked a deluxe room at the Cherokee Grand Hotel. We had a wonderful experience there. The room was very nice, extremely clean and well maintained. The front desk clerk was friendly and helpful, and both check in and out was quck. We knew it was going to be pouring rain by the time we left the casino, so we chose to use the hotel's shuttle bus to and from the casino. The shuttle bus driver was a super great guy, extremely courteous and friendly. I can't say enough good things about our experience there, and we will definitely stay there again.

Beautiful area and golf courses. Very outdated rooms and common areas. Nostalgia is fine, IF it looks clean and well kept. Tiny tv screens in rooms, worn floors, trim, doors, etc. The Tap N Cork barely busy, long wait for food, hair in food, wrong plate, etc.
INCREDIBLE breakfast buffet and gorgeous mountain views, friendly staff!

I would visit again but get a room on the second floor next time. We were on the main level and couldn’t sleep between the noise above and outside our room. The bathroom wasn’t necessary very clean and barely large brought to maneuver in but it’s an old house that’s been renovated. Very charming. The food and atmosphere were delightful. Certainly couldn’t beat the price.

We stayed here for price / value and location near Western North Carolina University for a campus tour.
Staff was helpful with directions and recommendations for locally owned, restaurants versus the usual chains.

I generally don’t like to stay in “motel like” hotels (where your room opens directly outside) but the room was spacious, updated and very clean. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. There was even a welcome bag in our room with 2 waters, a bag of popcorn and 2 cookies. We had a very enjoyable weekend.

Enveloped by the Nantahala National Forest, Sylvia provides a fantastic starting point for hikers and adventurers. The panoramic view from Pinnacle Park, with its Smokey Mountain backdrop and copious waterfalls, make this town worth a visit. The Jackson County Airport is 15 minutes from the center of town and is the home to the Jackson Community College Flight School.
