I was relieved upon arrival to find that the week-day check-in issues I read about here have been resolved with combination lock-boxes by the office.I spent 3 amazing nights over Halloween weekend with my boyfriend. This could be the most relaxing and romantic location "on the Grand Strand"...not too crowded or touristy but within a reasonable distance of any thrill one might seek. We enjoyed watching the surfers, fishermen, and lots of folks walking every imaginable breed of dog by the shore as the waves crashed just below our balcony with views of the sunrise and sunset...but also spent hours in the breeze collecting shells for my aquarium. Our condo was very comfortable and well furnished. Most importantly, it was CLEAN. As a former property manager, my standards are meticulous. I didn't even have to clean the tub before I could shower. Since there were just two of us, we even had our own private bathrooms. :) In a word our experience was REJUVENATING.

"Nice hotel, staff is okay, costs a little too much"
the staff was not that friendly. Just seemed to be doing their job. The room was nice and clean. They have plenty of cool activities and nice pool areas. The pool was crowded as was the whole hotel. But that is expected in July. I think the price was a little steep. i would expect a place like this to charge $150 a night. After the cleaning fee it was more like $200/night.

Close to beach and good access to everything you ever need! Had a refrigerator a microwave and a 2 burner cook top stove with a small kitchen sink. The refrigerator stayed cool but never got really cold.

This hotel was a pleasant experience, seeing that it was only for the weekend. The hotel is NO LONGER RECOGNIZED AS NEW ASTRO MOTEL, if you are searching for the name, address, phone number, or placing it in your GPS, you will get results for RODEWAY INN (I guess they purchased the property).A brief stay is definitely fitting for this hotel. The property wasn't oceanfront but it was a short ride away from either North or South Ocean blvd. and paying for temporary parking was a lot more convenient than having to pay higher hotel fees that likely covered parking. The staff was very pleasant and the hotel suited all needs for a low maintenance trip.

Low-slung homes outnumber high-rises along the seashore in Surfside Beach. Wild Water & Wheels amusement park fosters the community’s appeal as a family friendly destination. Evening—and the occasional rainy day—crowds pack the Legends in Concert theater. There, celebrity impersonators cover songs by Madonna, Elvis, and Justin Timberlake.
