"Really disappointed the roof terrace was closed."
Hotel and staff was lovely.
However I booked this particular hotel as the roof top bar looked stunning and I was having friends come to the hotel to meet me which I thought that was a beautiful bar for us to have a catch up!
On arrival I was informed this bar is only open for private functions!! False advertising if you ask me. As this is not noted when booking.
I was hugely disappointed.

Expensive hotel and can be quite noisy overnight and early morning, but nevertheless a great. The best deal though is the food. If you decide you fancy A carvery between 3-6pm it includes Sunday dinner, homemade pies, salads etc, and a pudding for £8:95. If you decide to eat later8:30-10pm it 2 meals for £10 and the carvery is to die for.
The spa is amazing with a huge pool and saunas. The only downfall is if you want to use the outdoor pool etc you have to pay a futher £30pp.

Perfect for romantic escape.
On the Quayside where there are excellent restaurants and bars and car park right behind the hotel.
Gorgeous room with huge extremely comfortable bed. Lovely toiletries, spotlessly clean and quiet.
Excellent breakfast and attentive friendly staff.

Stayed in the single bedroom. Quite small but clean with the basics, except desk and chair. If you worry about noise, avoid rooms immediately above pub. Fine for business travel/university conference stay.

Really friendly and quiet hotel in a great location next to the Tyne. Lots of good eating and drinking options very close by. Double room a bit too small for more than 1 or 2 nights. Bathroom very 'intimate'. But for 1 night was more than adequate. Overall fantastic value and we would stay again without hesitation.

Rooms were not too bad, no air con at a really hot time of year meant some guests were really uncomfortable. My room had a dodgy shower that sprayed water everywhere apart from down. But all in all not too bad.

The beaches on the North Sea coast attract visitors during warmer months in Sunderland. Cultural sites include Hylton Castle, dating back to the 14th century, and the National Glass Centre, where admission is free. Despite its smaller size, the city has a robust nightlife with many bars and clubs near the city center. More than 100 shops can be found at Bridges Shopping Centre, also located in the city centre.
