"Little Gem of a hotel"
The Koukouras is a delightful hotel. The owner was very helpful and kindly drove me to my friends' hotel nearby on several occasions. Spotlessly clean suite, large bedroom, comfortable bed and good qualty pillows, wardrobe and cupboard space for clothes, toiletries etc. dressing table with large miror. Spacious lounge with dining table and coffee table, well equipped kitchenette, shower room with fitted hairdryer, own patio with table and chairs. Very clean swimming pool and ample sun loungers, parasols, tables and chairs. Lots of shops and cafes nearby but quiet and peaceful at the hotel. Bus stop two minutes walk but taxis readily available at reasonable price. I can certainly recommend this hotel and will be amongst the many returning guests.

"IRINI HOTEL, STALOS -Great Hotel and location "
I stayed in this clean and comfortable hotel in May 2016, which is a 15 minute bus ride from Chania town centre (ask for Maria's Taverna stop and the hotel is opposite) and a great base for exploring in and around Chania. The owners/hosts Antonis and his sister Artemis are very kind, extremely helpful and always smiling. My room (Number 10) was large, with a fully fitted kitchenette (and everything you could possibly need for cooking), a furnished balcony overlooking the main road (the noise may not be to everyone's liking but I am used to it), very comfortable bed, satellite tv, hairdryer and wi-fi. Although I did not use it, there is a beautiful swimming pool at the back of the hotel with sun loungers and umbrellas in a well-kept garden. Everything was within easy walking distance, the beach, tavernas, supermarket....and even a trip to the Botanical Gardens of Crete or to Elafonisi Beach as the bus-stop for these attractions is just across the road from the hotel (saving the need to travel into Chania's main bus station). Furthermore, I enjoyed leisurely sightseeing walks to Agia Marina and Platanias. I would definitely return as the hotel, price and location was fantastic.

"Nice small, well run hotel conveniently located."
We were met by the very friendly and welcoming reception staff, who showed us to our room, which was very nicely appointed. It was a huge room with a very comfy bed, large walk in shower in the ensuite, a/c and a ceiling fan, large patio doors leading on to our generous decking area. Internet access was available in the room but was included in our package, otherwise it was available in the reception area. We had the bed and breakfast option but some rooms provide self catering. Housekeeping was excellent and beach towels were available every day. Hotel is very pretty and nicely laid out with lovely grounds. Although the hotel is small it is very clean and well maintained, with a small pool and nice open bar and social space. It's next to the road as most of the hotels and bars are in the area. However this was never a problem in the room although traffic noise was noticeable in the bar area. But - cross the road and walk down a short passageway and you reach the beautiful sandy beach. Perfect. The layout of the accommodation is such that many of the rooms are accessed by stairs which could be a potential problem, so would be worth requesting a ground floor room when booking if this is an issue. All the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. Angela on reception was wonderful at suggesting places to visit or nice restaurants to try. Great place to stay and highly recommended.

"Lovely spacious room"
Our room was lovely & clean with cutlery & crockery sufficient for our needs. Our only comments would be that there was no kettle or bottle opener/corkscrew. Extra pillows are also needed & the sheets could have been longer. Overall it did not detract from our holiday & we would be happy to return

"Warm welcome in a good location"
Very warm welcome and excellend people throughout my stay. Well situated between the road and the sea, the modest size of the hotel provides for good accomodation. My room was spaclous and confortable, the kitchenette adequate considering that one eats out a lot. Breakfast was plentiful with fresh food (excellent yoghurt and honey). On Sudnay they even baked a cake! There is a pleasant garden at the front with small trees and flowers. On the other side is a fair size swimming pool, a lawn with loungers, a bar, a sandy beach... and the sea! And easy walk of a mile or so will take you to Aghia Marina, the roadside dotted with numerous restaurants, bars, shops and services of all kinds. Alternatively, you can also walk along the splendid sandy beach. Owners and staff alike went out of their way to make my stay very pleasant indeed, demonstrating typical Cretan hospitality and friendliness. I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel warmly. A proviso: Im am writing this in Jan. 2016. I stayed there in April 2015.

Hermes Beach Studios

"Lovely studio apartment on the beach."
We had a lovely week in early April before the main holiday season, so appreciated the beach being quiet with very few tourists. It was warm with some unseasonably hot days (up to 28 degrees). As well as swimming in the sea, we took full advantage of the pool that belongs to the Hermes apartments, a few hundred yards up a slope, with a beautiful view of the mountains. Great to have an apartment on the beach! In early April there were a handful of tavernas open in Kato Stalos, and enjoyed 'Maria's' (others were due to reopen in coming weeks) and a local supermarket open daily till late. This suited us fine (family of 4 with kids 14 and 10). We visited Chania a few times (a local bus service or taxi fare of 12 euros) and enjoyed strolling around the venetian harbour and old town where there are a host of tavernas and shops selling traditional crafts. We visited Knossos (on bus from Iraklion) and then Archaeological museum - out of season the museum closed at 3pm, so advisable to visit Knossos early to make time for museum. We had a guide at Knossos, and although quite expensive, brought to our visit an enlivening mix of history and myth, which fired our imaginations. Again, visiting before the main season meant we were crowd free. We took a Landrover safari trip up into the mountains to where the shepherds go in the summer months - wonderful views, informative and entertaining guides. We wouldn't hesitate to visit again, and probably at same time of year.

Stalos Beach is calling — find the perfect hotel

Everyone wants to score a deal on travel, but price is just one factor to consider when booking an unforgettable hotel. Whether you’re visiting family, attending a conference or taking a well-earned vacation in Stalos Beach, having an awesome experience should be a no-brainer.

Hotwire will hook you up! From restful nights near your flight to that prime spot in the city’s heart, we’ve done our research to bring the best options to your fingertips. Book your Stalos Beach hotel with us now and start your next adventure.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
