"Great Service"
The staff, especially Julian Darisse, who we dealt with upon arrival was excellent. We arrived early with a 3 month old baby with us and he set up a room immediately so the baby and parents could rest. Our room was ready 2 hours later and he let us know immediately so we could rest as well. We felt very pampered and cared for during our stay by all the staff we met. Such a wonderful stay in Toronto.

"Just an OK hotel, very good location. "
Its an average hotel with a good location. Staff was actually the worst part of the stay. Very bad attitude, zero to none in customer service rating. Not towards guest satisfaction, guests seem to be a burden for the staff. We got the 2 bedroom 2 bath room, which was good. Spacious. Cleanliness was average. We got charged $ 60 extra Canadian dollars per day for the room, even with soo much space inside. Breakfast was TERRIBLE. After the staff, this was the worse part. Same food every single day, poor taste. Restaurant is tiny and was always full. Had to wait in line maybe 20-30 minutes. Staff at restaurant was always running around like crazy.

"Location Location Location!!!!! "
Across the road from the Royal Ontario Museum and the sightseeing tour bus stops right outside the hotel. Bata shoe museum is 5 mins walk away. Eaton Centre is 20 mins walk away. The hotel is opposite Starbucks and Second Cup is around the corner. Cannot fault the location. Very kind and helpful staff. Most comfortable bed!! Roof top terrace has the most amazing views but a bit pricey. Would highly recommend this hotel

"Worth the premium: everything is top rate"
The physical space is beautiful and premium, lovely finishes, clean, contemporary. While the space is outstanding, it is the hotel staff and the personal touches that make it stand out. One truly feels tended to and 'little touches' abound. If you can afford the premium, this is one of those rare examples of where it is completely worth it.

Strathcona Hotel

60 York St, Toronto - Map
"Very pleasant hotel close to train station"
The Strathcona is a very pleasant hotel located in downtown Toronto. Our first impression of our was that it was very small. However, it is also well-laid out so the size did not become an issue - very similar to hotels I have experienced in other countries, such as in Amsterdam. The view from the window was non-existent - it overlooked the wall of the building next door and, as such, had no view whatsoever. The reception staff were universally excellent, cheerful and helpful. For breakfast we had the buffet, which was unusual in that the standard scrambled eggs were fresh and tender, the sausages were cooked perfectly, and not tough, and the bacon was not so crisp that it broke if you looked at it wrong. The fried potatoes were slightly better than we have experienced in other hotels, and far better than in fast food restaurants. Its proximity to the train station was out main reason for selecting this hotel, and we were pleasantly pleased to discover that it was so close to the station that I, who have mobility issues, had no problem walking to the hotel. All in all, this was a pleasant hotel which we will definitely choose when next we got to Toronto.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
