"Nice classic hotel in the midst of a growing city"
The staff was great - very friendly and accommodating. We called ahead about early check-in and they were able to accommodate us. We had a question about the air conditioning and a staff man came right up and helped us out. The staff gave us local maps and marked out some suggested routes. The room was small but well laid out and easy to be in. It was a really pleasant experience. Also after check-out the staff checked our baggage so that we could walk around town while we were waiting for our train to depart.

Beautiful new place in best location you can find. Heart of Gas Lamp area. Great bars/and restaurants. 3rd floor roof top pool and bar is special. Parked the car in public lot 2 blocks away for $15.00 a night. Did not use car there 1 time. Easy to hop on ferry and get to Corrando Island for fun on the beach. We will be back

We stayed there for 5 nights, and this place was exactly as advertised... a clean & comfortable room, close to SDSU. If you are in town to set your child up for school in the San Diego area and are on a budget, this is the perfect hotel for you - it's a modest facility with a clean shower and comfortable bed. Lodge of La Mesa delivered just that! I do want to point out that this is not a resort, therefore do not expect to stay there to "enjoy the amenities", keep your expectations real.

Predominantly residential South Bay has pockets of industry, commerce, and military installations. Popular South Bay tourist venues include Knott’s Soak City Water Park and Coors Amphitheatre, which hosts large concerts.
