"Lovely place to stay "
Great hotel. Had some problems getting the room originally ordered with a view. Had to move on 2nd night after argument that a view of a car park was not in line with what had been promised at booking. Restaurant expensive but excellent although limited - to be expected from such a small hotel. Would visit again but would need reassurance that booking and actuality matched.

"A 0ne night stop"
Just a one night stop. wanted it near to Bowness town and lake. Easy booking and good room with good breakfast. The breakfast is run of the mill if you take the buffet the rest of the menu looks good but cannot comment on that.

"Pleasant Hotel Near Grasmere Village"
We had a very enjoyable stay at the hotel once the room we were first allocated was changed. The first room we were given was small with no outlook but a wall, but the worst thing about it was a generator noise of some sort, never ending drone, which kept me awake all night. Next morning asked to change rooms. The lovely receptionist was so apologetic and eventually managed to get us a much better, bigger with a garden outlook. We then had a lovely stay. All the staff were pleasant, helpful and very friendly. It is because of them that the hotel has a decent rating. Plenty of free parking, free wifi, breakfast was good, dinner was Ok but not a fine dining experience. You can walk into Grasmere Village quite easily from the hotel. It's an old building with a 'country house' decor, so if you like modern furnishings, don't choose this hotel.

"Nice hotel halfway between Windermere and Bowness"
Situated at the top of a steep hill as the name implies, first impressions of the hotel were very good. Nice easy check-in although we were led to believe that the newspaper service was complementary as there was no mention of an additional fee (only realised when it came to check out that they charged us £4.20 for 3 papers). Not many of the rooms have a view of the Lake but this didn't really bother us as we got to see plenty of it on our travels. We were impressed with the cleanliness of the room. Breakfast was nice and I enjoyed the full English. The waiter (male) wasn't particularly welcoming on our first breakfast at the hotel which was disappointing. Not a massive choice of continental options either. We were also surprised to find the fire exit door (situated next to our hotel room) open when we returned from breakfast on the second day and it was still open when we returned from our outdoor walking adventure in the evening! When it got to 9pm I ended up closing the door. We felt this was pretty poor of the hotel in terms of safety standards. Also our tv had poor signal on the second night (no access to BBC 1 or 2). Overall we were reasonably satisfied with our stay. I think at half the price we would be very happy with the stay but as it really wasn't cheap we expected it to be much better.

"Wonderful old hotel"
Everything was excellent. Freshed cooked breakfast to order. Two small concerns. No elevator so be sure to request a first floor room if walking up stairs is a problem. Also the Nanny Brow does not have a restaaurant so all other meals must be taken elsewhere. However, there is so much to see and do in the lake district, we were always outside anyway.

"Great property in a lovely setting"
We enjoyed our stay at Cedar Manor. The hosts were great and offered advice on dining in the local area and walking directions to the town. We spent most of our time traveling the area and did not eat in the restaurant. The room was a little on the small side and the hot weather required a fan in the room which did not add to the comfort. Otherwise all good and worth a visit

"Lovely traditional hotel with fabulous views"
Apart from the check-in that was not particularly friendly and welcoming, the hotel was very comfortable and enjoyable. The dinner was excellent if a little expensive but overall it was a pleasant stay.

This is a seriously good hotel in a village which is heaven on earth. It sets it's stall out as a 4* hotel and that's exactly what it is. The inevitable downside is that like most 4* hotels it lacks the personal touch. Don't let that put you off. The facilities are excellent and the garden & restaurant are just stunning in appearance.

"Very accessible hotel. Lovely staff"
Had a nice stay here recently - loved the fact that the back garden could take us onto a 15k walk past Windermere. The staff are wonderful and so friendly and the manager was very professional and understanding when I spoke to him. Food is good and the place is very dog friendly. Rooms were very tidy and well presented, we really appreciated having a printed weather sheet left on our bed for arrival and whenever the room was made up in addition to using the wifi to look at the forecast as this helped us when planning walking routes.

"Lovely stay in an equally lovely hotel."
Despite a slight distance from the very centre of Bowness-on-Windermere, this hotel had everything that we could ask for during our walking break in the Lake District. The owners were friendly, and took an interest in us and other guests. Breakfast was more than sufficient, and the room itself was both comfortable and practical, as well as being nicely decorated. In all, we would recommend this hotel and we will take the opportunity to stay there again.

Sawrey is calling — find the perfect hotel

Everyone wants to score a deal on travel, but price is just one factor to consider when booking an unforgettable hotel. Whether you’re visiting family, attending a conference or taking a well-earned vacation in Sawrey, having an awesome experience should be a no-brainer.

Hotwire will hook you up! From restful nights near your flight to that prime spot in the city’s heart, we’ve done our research to bring the best options to your fingertips. Book your Sawrey hotel with us now and start your next adventure.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
