Winning stay at DeSoto Beach Hotel!

Friendly and helpful staff always make a difference! Direct beach access was the true winner. There is nothing that compares to that convenience! Bring your own beach towels, umbrella, chairs, etc. If you forget the hotel has those for rent.

It was an older property, but we'll maintained. It was very clean and the beds were very comfortable. Breakfast was minimal, but fresh. Employees were helpful and friendly. It was great being able to walk out to the beach. The pool was nice too, and I was told it is heated and cooled as needed

Very clean. Right on the beach. Tiny, tiny bathroom. Nice pool. Parking is a bit of a struggle but not horrible. Over all, we would stay again.

Where to start? Unfriendly staff during check in. No smiles, no welcome, just "ID and credit card". Our unit had a Broken door knob which was was barely functional. We felt unsafe. We let the front desk person know at check out. No apology. Just, well we didn't know. Shower terrible. If this is the "best" that Tybee Island has to offer, I would hate to see the worst.

For the price, I was a little disappointed at the cleanliness of the bathroom. No tissues in the room. Mattress worn with dips and wear. Every time I went on the balcony, I smelled cigarette smoke and I have COPD, so I had to go back inside to not breathe the cigarette smoke. People with no handicap parking permits were parked in the handicap spaces. It would have been nice to have some sort of eggs on the breakfast bar. The beach was almost completely gone from erosion. No stairs to go from the boardwalk to the ocean. Just steep soft sand pathways. I fell going down the steep pathway. On checkout, I asked if they could make sure that my discount was applied, they told me that they could not verify that, that I would have to contact Expedia. I rented beach chairs and umbrella almost every day and every time I went to the beach to use them, they were occupied by people who did not rent them. Lotta room for improvement.

Housekeeping did not clean up or make the bed until the last night.The shower leaked and made a loud noise when going down the drain which kept us awake. The shower has mold inside the caulk. The shower was a very cheap structure. Had management upgraded the bathroom, it probably would've been better but the lack of housekeeping would've still been an issue. I wouldn't return.
