"Lovely hotel"
We stayed one night on a cross country trip. The hotel looks very old-school French but has modern amenities. The room was large, comfortable and beautifully decorated. Very nice bathroom. Highway access and parking were easy. Good soundproofing.

"Fun, funky place to stay!"
Loved the location and it's proximity to everything. The hotel itself is fun to stay at and the bar area was comfy and a great place to meet friends before or after going out. The staff was excellent.

"Convenience but decor is dated and not accessible"
The hotel is well located and easy to access from either the train or airport which is great. Upon check in I was put in the furthest room possible from everything and right next to the service elevator which was disappointing. After complaining about the noise I was relocated to a different room on the third floor. The downside to this is that there is no elevator to get to this floor so you are stuck dragging your luggage up multiple flights of stairs. It's a very unusual layout. The room access is only via stairs, if you have mobility issues this is not the hotel for you. To get to my room there were 5 sets of stairs to climb, none with mobility ramps of appropriate pitch. There are ramps but very steep so for such a pricey hotel I expected better access. The restaurants and room service options are fantastic, high quality food and great taste. The carpets in the hallways looked threadbare and it took me to the third day I was there to work out that this was intentional. I think it's meant to be shabby chic look but to me it just looked worn and dated. For the price you pay, I have to admit I expected more.

"Great location and lovely hotel"
Everything was wonderful, truly-- (Get the breakfast with your room, it's fantastic!) -- Our king-bed room was a tiny bit snug but really other than not being very spacious, it was perfect in every way.

"Loved the room, but..."
The hotel is lovely and in a great location. Staff are accommodating and warm. We loved the Jr. suite. It was large, the king size bed super comfortable, fantastic rain shower, nice work desk with outlets for techie stuff, and a cozy seating area. So why 4 stars instead of 5? We were not happy with the hotel's french bistro which was a big selling point for us. We waited 40 minutes for our meal (my salmon was cooked perfect but the tarragon sauce was watery) and my partner's steak was way overcooked and leathery (he asked for medium rare) and his fries soggy. It was clear they stuck his meal in the microwave. We did share our disappointment and were comped our drinks (bottle of water and 2 wines). While the restaurant decor is elegant the music is loud and annoying. Nevertheless we ordered room service the following morning...two continental breakfasts, a pot of coffee, and a bottle of sparkling water. It came to $77!? Really....for a croissant and cheese and fruit plate? Yes- the taxes are steep in Montreal, but I still found that to be over the top for a 4 star hotel. We opted to just go around the corner to Xavier Artisan for coffee, juice and croissants in the morning. The Japanese restaurant was good, so no complaints there. Very fresh sushi. Usually we stay at Auberge Bonaparte, but they were booked. Le Place d'Armes Hotel is a good option, but it won't be our first choice.

"Close to Metro"
Needed a place for one night for me, wife, two kids. Hotel was cheap, nice enough for the night - very comfortable bedding, clean, but some room furnishings were a bit older/beaten up. Great location steps away from Metro, two stops from downtown Montreal.

"Clean, comfortable, roomy and conveniently located"
Nice visit. After unsatisfactory check-in to an unacceptable room, staff made every effort to make things right. Very professional, quick and responsive staff. The rest of my 5 day stay was very nice, quiet, in cheerful surroundings and nice pools/exercise facilities.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
