My family used to use Motel 6 all the time but had found that many were run down and in pretty dirty condition. NOT the case at Motel 6 Rockport. This was the cleanest, best maintained Motel 6 we had been to in a long time. The staff was pleasant and helpful. The grounds were very well maintained with a couple huge picnic areas which included BBQ pits and tables. I would definitely stay here again.

Pool is small, soap the only toiletry offered unless you were in need of emergency supplies. AC was good and fairly quiet, bed very comfy, shower great. Had to switch rooms b/c the ac was dripping on the floor of the first one.

We stayed 2 nights for a quick weekend getaway. We had never been to Port A or the surrounding area so we didn't know what to anticipate for the location. Hawthorn Suites was situated perfectly for quick access to Port A. The hotel itself was a little run down, it definitely needs a fresh coat of paint. We also encountered a big cockroach in the tub our first morning and a smaller one near the fridge. All in all, we only slept there, didn't spend much time otherwise so it suited our needs.

Rockport, surrounded by the sparkling waters of Copano and Aransas Bays on the Texas Gulf Coast, is a popular destination for its beach, ski basin, and sport fishing. Live oak trees dominate the area, and the state’s oldest live oak, “Big Tree,” resides on the Lamar Peninsula, about 10 miles (16 km) away. Birding enthusiasts are drawn to the annual Hummer and Birding Expo and the nearby Aransas National Wildlife Refuge.
