This is a lovely relaxed resort hotel set in an idyllic location. Where it falls very short is in the restaurant and service areas. Everything about this place calls for top quality food service, but the reality is it's at par with an airport Hilton. Very unfortunately, since that means I'll probably never return, along with many other disappointed guests. That said, I don't want to leave the impression that the hotel itself isn't very nice and well-run, it is.

My room was on the top floor, a real hike for someone who had recently broken his leg, but the views of the fall foliage from the windows there was worth it! The staff was kind to take suitcase up there for me. Made friends with so many other folks who were staying there, and we enjoyed visiting local museums together! The breakfasts were delicious, such fun meeting the other guests over coffee and tea. The house is beautiful and in a lovely neighborhood. Highly recommended for single travelers, couples, or small groups!

The staff was wonderful. They went it of our way to to help me when the mini fridge in our room stopped working at 11:00pm. We were very happy with our room and housekeeping staff. The kayaking and paddle boarding are a huge added bonus.

Profusions of fragrant flowers bloom in Rochester's parks and gardens each spring, lending the city its nickname, “the Lilac City.” The largest town in New Hampshire's Seacoast region, Rochester is about equidistant between the Atlantic Ocean and Lake Winnipesaukee. The Rochester Opera House, opened in 1908, features the original movable floor--a fine example of Yankee ingenuity.
