I couldn't have been happier with this little find. The owner john emailed early in the day to assure that the room would be ready and if we needed anything to make our stay better. Don't be put off by the winding roads that lead up to the hotel, Rincon's landscapes is mostly mountainous and the beach was virtually a 3 or 4 min drive down the hill. John was very helpful with tips for restaurants and overall a genuinely nice guy. The Room was decorated as exactly a room in Puerto Rico should be. My wife and I loved it. We had a balcony with a nice distant view of the ocean My only complaint was that we only booked for only one nite and didn't get to hang by the pool which is surrounded by beautiful trees and bushes. The continental Breakfast was very good as well. I highly recommend this place to anyone that wants to spend time in the area.

The site is rustic and right on the water. It's not luxurious and I knew that going in. I wanted to hear waves crashing into the wall outside my cottage. I asked the owner of I could check in early and she accommodated me and said it would be $60 to do so. I was fine with that. She was super responsive when I called to get the early check-in together. I got their at about 4 am. I was placed in the Quepena which has a semi-private terrace and is designed for the single or budget friendly traveler (as described in my welcome letter). The cottage wasn't the one that was in the pictures advertised on Expedia, but I decided to make do. There are designed openings on the wall, so critters can easily enter. Wasn't thrilled about that, but I was going to make the best of it. There's only AC in the bedroom, so the rest of the cottage is super hot and muggy. I turned the AC on in the bedroom and crashed. When I woke up, the AC was off and it wouldn't turn back on. Then I went into my suitcase and it was teaming with ants. They'd found their way inside through the part that was unzipped. I had rum in bubble wrap but that didn't stop them. I shook everything out and rinsed out the bottles and put them in the fridge. A huge water bug was in the shower, but waterbugs are no biggie. I called the owner to still pay the $60, request bug spray, and to get the AC fixed. She wasn't surprised about the ants and said sometimes they won't be around for months and then they show up. She said she had

Rincon was beautiful in late April, with warm days with a nice cool breeze, fewer people, great sunshine, great food, quiet and so pretty. The beaches are almost empty. One concern was the roughness of the ocean with a big rip tide (on both sides of the island). Terrific food at reasonable prices and a fun area to drive around the small Rincon area. Don't miss the lighthouse.

Rincon is famous for its beaches, which tend to be small, intimate, and varied in character. The first World Championships of surfing was held in Rincon in 1968, and the big waves of the northern beaches still attract surfers the world over. The calm waters of the southern beaches, by contrast, are ideal for snorkeling and diving. During the winter months, humpback whales swim offshore.
