The hotel is set in large grounds with paths, palms, several pools and sunlounging areas and a general air of spaciousness. The rooms were also spacious, clean and modern.
The dining rooms were busy as you would expect with a large hotel, but no long queues for the self service due to the numerous food stations where food was often prepared in front of you on the griddle or grill. A vast and changing nightly array of dishes were served and topped up freshly and frequently. We found the food excellent, the only problem being a temptation to overeat due to wanting to try everything available.
There were plenty of daytime activities, not too our taste but others seemed to enjoy. Likewise the entertainment was geared to families with children, however we enjoyed a nightly stroll to the numerous music bars.
We took half board and found this ideal. The small extra charge for all inclusive may have tempted us to stay in hotel and drink too much instead of getting out and about!
The clientele was very international and well behaved. I would estimate 30% were families.

"Good location, close to beach, bars & restaurants."
A really enjoyable week in a fab hotel & a lovely island.
Hotel staff were friendly, helpful, incredibly hardworking & extremely professional. We really got a sense that they were going all out to ensure that their guests are having the best holiday possible.
I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough

The hotel was gorgeous - the staff were incredibly attentive. My room exceeded expectations as when I booked it said it had a partial sea view but it was actually panoramic and a view of the pool also. The decor incredibly modern / stylish and comfortable. Pool was luxurious as was the spa. Also the buffet breakfast was fresh and appealing. Housekeeping was a bit hit and miss - I couldn't work out the pattern of visits. However I would definitely visit again.

A great hotel in an excellent spot. Fabulous beach but no sun beds anywhere to be seen on the enormous beach. It may be April and the start of the season but no beach facilities at all. Playa Blanca have their beach up and running but that is an hour on the bus.

It was my birthday whilst I was staying, not only did I discover a bottle of champagne on ice in my room with a couple of glasses, but, at dinner I was guided to a table that had been decorated with flowers and sparkles with yet another bottle of champagne!
Every single one of the staff were delightful, smiling, friendly and nothing was too much trouble.
There was a cosmopolitan mixture of nationalities staying, but a very good mingling and friendliness prevailed. It soon became evident that most visitors were not on their first visit, but many repeaters.
On arrival I was taken to a 'standard' room which was fine, but the terrace area was small. I returned to reception and was shown alternatives, settling eventually for 2 upgrades to a wonderful room with large terrace, 2 sunbeds, table and chairs with a great view across the beach, supplements paid and well worth it!

I was travelling solo for 5 nights and had a 2nd floor double room with a sea & pool view from the balcony. The reception staff were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble whenever you spoke to them (a real credit to the hotel). I was half board so had breakfast & dinner in the buffet restaurant included. There was a lot of choice, with specials such as Chinese or Indian each night - it was generally very good. Evening entertainment started at 8pm with a duo singing, with a show at 10pm (tribute acts, dancers) for an hour - the bar/lounge was always full. When I went in October there was a mix of ages, but skewed to the older age groups, but everyone seemed to get on well. No one cared I was on my own and I noticed several other solo travellers were staying there. I spent a couple of days by one of the pools, there were plenty of sunbeds and a pool side bar for drinks & snacks. The hotel is in a great location 10-15 mins from the airport and right on the beach front. It's at the end of "The Strip" with a selection of bars and places to eat close by and a better selection if you keep walking along the seafront, which was well lit and felt safe even late at night. Whilst the hotel entertainment was okay I enjoyed the bars along the strip more, and chose from plenty with live music which suited me. I had a couple of minor issues with the room, but reception sorted them without fuss. On the whole this was a great choice and I would definitely stay here again.

Loved our stay here. Our first vacation to this resort. A warm welcome, glass of fizz and some pastries, but would have been nice for a porter to help carry and//or possibly cases. We had difficulty finding our room at first.
Room was very spacious, and, cool enough. fridge, balcony, plenty of space for clothes and comfy bed. Beware the water, it is scalding hot!
Service/staff were excellent, any problems or requests just ask. Foor was excellent, very wide choice. Tables at meal times are communal, which we liked.
The entertainment was great, Jacuzzi party, foam, and pool parties, all with fun games. The evening entertainment was good, sometimes consisting of acts, I.e singers etc from outside the resort, or the guests themselves. I.e, they held workshops in the day, which were relayed in the evening disco area.

The island’s biggest and busiest resort has two very different faces. Along the beachfront is a three-kilometre long, unbroken strip of shops, restaurants and night spots. By contrast, the old port is a picturesque spot busy with fishing and pleasure boats, and overlooked by restaurants and bars, many occupying a lofty balcony position on the hill. Adjacent, the swish marina of Puerto Calero offers excursions by yacht, submarine or catamaran.
