"Amazing views overlooking lake Vyrnwy."
Stayed one night and had a lovely time. Weather was glorious and the views while dining on the hotel veranda overlooking the lake was stunning.

"charming hotel "
had a great stay here, the hotel is a little dated but this only adds to the charm. The town itself is dated but charming which only adds to the overall feel of the place. Don't expect brand new everything as you don't go to Mach for this and to be honest it would be totally out of place anyway. I stopped here during a motorbike festival and somehow left some expensive equipment behind (nothing to do with the weekends beer festival obviously). When I rang up the hotel owner could not of been more helpful and quickly tracked it down and sent it in the post next day.

"An excellent break with delicious food"
We (three couples) booked the Waterdine as a base for a weekend while walking part of the Offa's Dyke National Trail - and what a lucky find it was! One of the group told a friend that she was going walking on Offa's Dyke, and the immediate reply, without even knowing which part of the trail we were going to, was "You must go to the Waterdine!". The dinner each night was delicious and incredibly good value - I wasn't surprised later to discover that Ken had been awarded a Michelin Bib Gourmand when he was based in Ludlow. There were also plenty of options for cooked breakfasts, all of which we enjoyed between us. Isabel was friendly and helpful. The rooms were small but very comfortable. The location is beautifully quiet and it was lovely to sit and admire the landscape / birds in the garden. There is no mobile phone reception in the hotel or immediate surrounding area, but that's just a feature of the geography of this part of the world, where hills get in the way of signals. We had a fantastic time and hope to visit again.

"Beautiful guest house"
Beautiful and picturesque guest house; fantastic find! Well located with friendly and helpful owners. Food quality was excellent and the whole stay was excellent value for money. Breakfast was better than most 5* star hotels!! The selection of local produce and overall quality was second to none and nothing was too much trouble. The only slight critesisms are that our room (separate from the main house) was a little musty with no central heating; just an electric heater. There were however plenty of blankets so it wasn't a big problem!! Also the room has no hairdryer; would have expected a 4* accommodation to have one available in the room. Despite these minor points I would definitely return and would highly recommend a stay here!

We had booked a basic room but was disappointed on arrival as there was no shower in the bathroom, only a bath. There were lots of midges on the inside of the window and very limited hanging space for 2 with 5 coat hangers between us. The room was also small. We were staying for three nights and were away from home for three weeks so had lots to hang up. However, on sharing our view with the staff they were really helpful. They made us a complementary cup of tea whilst they found another room for us. We were given a free upgrade to another room which was far better. The food and service at this hotel was very good. They mention that they are gradually refurbishing this hotel and perhaps they had not yet managed to do this on the first room we were offered.

"No issues with hotel itself "
The hotel is lovely, the staff are very helpful but the issues I had were with the noise from the pub below. There were so many people in the pub and it was so loud I couldn't sleep until after 1am! People slamming doors every 10 minutes so hard my whole room would shake. The bed was uncomfortable too unfortunately. Other than these points I was pretty happy. Wifi worked well and the food was good.

Powys is calling — find the perfect hotel

Everyone wants to score a deal on travel, but price is just one factor to consider when booking an unforgettable hotel. Whether you’re visiting family, attending a conference or taking a well-earned vacation in Powys, having an awesome experience should be a no-brainer.

Hotwire will hook you up! From restful nights near your flight to that prime spot in the city’s heart, we’ve done our research to bring the best options to your fingertips. Book your Powys hotel with us now and start your next adventure.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
