"Beautiful ocean view from our room on 5th floor."
We loved the view from our room on the 5th floor overlooking Shipwreck Beach and the ocean. Enjoyed the buffet breakfast each morning that came with our room. We had dinner at Dondero's, and Tidepools restaurants, Had lunch at the pool cabana we rented (love the pulled pork sandwich!), and had a nice lunch at the Poipu Golf Club restaurant before heading to the airport for the flight home. Had the Sweetheart spa treatments for both myself and my husband--massages and facials at the Anara Spa. Wonderful!!

This lovely condo was a five minute walk to a wonderful swimming, surfing and sometimes snorkeling beach. The gardens at this resort were very well maintained with a relaxing koi pond waterfall next to the restaurant. There was a gas BBQ area to share in the center and across the street was the included fitness center. Next to the fitness center was a small shopping center with lots of tasty restaurants and shops. But it was never noisy or crowded unless there's a concert at the outdoor arena...but they quiet down by 10. Our room was very comfortable with island decor and a full kitchen.

Make sure when you check in that you specifically state you do not want a handicap room unless you need one. This is the second time I booked at this hotel through Expedia and both times I was given the same room which needs updating and a good cleaning in the bathroom. I think because the rate through Expedia is great when you check in they give you a less desirable room even though you pay more for ocean view.

The condominium I was supposed to stay in had a faulty front door lock. I did get to see the interior and it was on the second floor, and it was clean and sufficient. The beds were okay, looked like they could use new mattresses. The management upgraded me to a nicer unit on the first floor. It was clean and quiet. The downside was that I was uncomfortable sleeping at night with the sliding glass door open, and that was the only window ventilation available with no air conditioning. It was nice. The bathrooms were very nice, laundry in the unit was convenient, and it was certainly centrally located on the island, which is what I was looking for. All in all, I had a nice stay.

Everything about the Koa Kea was tremendous. The surroundings were so beautiful: right next to the beach, lovely plantings, pool & hot spa. All of the friendly and attentive staff made us feel welcomed and cared for, every day. Wonderful food in the Red Salt dining room, and we treated ourselves to facial and massage at the Spa at Koa Kea that was so relaxing and rejuvenating.

The lady at the front office was very friendly, the location is great close to the beach, restaurants and shopping center. Our room was a two level townhome! Upstairs was the master bedroom and downstairs the 2nd bedroom large kitchen with all needed to cook, washer and dryer and beach toys. We really enjoy our stay.

My husband and I just spent 11 days at this hotel and enjoyed every minute of it. We would definitely stay there again.
The rooms were clean, quiet, spacious, and close to the beach and shopping. You definitely need a car. The grounds are very pretty and well kept. Four people could easily, and comfortably, stay in a 2 bedroom unit. The bathrooms are quite luxurious.
We had a 2 bedroom unit in building 3 and it was gorgeous. Having a washer and dryer was very helpful, though the dryer could have been more effective. (We didn't let them know, so it's possible they could have adjusted it, had we asked.)
You can walk to the beach, but that requires walking along a narrow strip of road with a lot of cars; we felt safer driving.
Everyone we interacted with was kind, helpful and very friendly. We felt truly pampered by every employee.
The addition will be really beautiful, and all the amenities that it will provide will make this resort better. (Pool side food, larger pools, and true ocean view condos.) We had an excellent experience, all in all and would recommend this resort - just know you won't hear the surf, but you will hear birdsong.

On Kauai’s south side, Poipu is known for its gentle waters, which make snorkeling and swimming ideal; Mahaulepu Beach and Shipwreck Beach are among the favorites. Nearby, the Kauai Coffee Company, Hawaii’s largest coffee plantation, is open for tours. West of Poipu, sweeping vistas greet visitors at the Waimea Canyon, while the surf and lava collide at the Sprouting Horn.
