One must ask what your purpose of stay is.....friendly staff, relaxing atmosphere, great pools.... if these are important to you... this is your place. By the end of our stay of 9 days, we knew the staff by name and they knew ours. They always asked how stay was going, what else they could do to help.... it was amazing! This is a small boutique hotel. Three stories with courtyard pools, rooftop pool & bar. Spanish restaurant next door served breakfast next door with many choices and waiters eager to please. They also served delicious meals at night overlooking the city's municipal park at night. Paella was excellent as were cocktails and sangria. This is an adult only hotel with many international guests. Three blocks to beach and 2 to 5th Ave.

Technically this wasn't a vacation, it was our honeymoon. I found this place on some Google list of top 10 most romantic honeymoon spots and it did not dissapoint. The grounds are beautiful. The staffs mission in life is to make sure you are happy and have everything you need. And it's not just for tips either, it's genuine. Whether you want to do nothing or everything, you will be pleased. We just got back and are already planning a return trip. The rooms are VERY private, no noise from other villas etc. The food at every restaurant on the property is amazing and each one is a different dinning experience. Highly recommended spot.

Stayed here one night before waking up early to head to cozumel. The staff greeted me and were very friendly. Though my room was hot and muggy when I first entered I found the AC unit was in good working order and quickly cooled the room down. The shower hot water came quickly but there was no mirror in the bathroom. Even with the night life around and bar/grill downstairs my room was quiet and peaceful with minimal light pollution.

Pocket Guide: Riviera Maya Playa del Carmen Hotels
Still small enough to explore on foot, Playa del Carmen has a relaxed, yet cosmopolitan feel, with a variety of hotels, shops, and restaurants ranging from causal to upscale. European-style sunbathing is common on beaches. Playa is a popular jumping-off point for day trips to Xcaret, Xel-Ha, Tulum, and other peninsula attractions, and a passenger ferry makes frequent runs to Cozumel.
