Right in the centre of the CBD. No parking at site but commercial parking nearby. Toilets and showers worked and water was hot. Air Con room as well. Decor and paint was dated but locality made up for the drab appearance of the property.

The simple fact is Perth hotels are not up to much and the Duxton, being one of the top 3 hotels in Perth doesn't Mean it's any good. We travel regularly to Australia and Perth and the general standard of hotels is poor. It's okay, does the job, but that's about it. Hotel is very dated with in 1990's style. Rooms are adequate, hotel bar is scruffy (permanently sticky tables from 7pm onwards etc), restaurant food ok, pool / spa facilities scruffy and unappealing and like sitting in a concrete box surrounded by taller buildings (in fact access to he pool is by climbing down a 2 foot ladder which was broken when were there and most people would not have been able to climb out - positively dangerous for old or young persons). Nothing you ask for ever gets done first time - phone down for your car ($48 / day valet parking) - not there when you arrive downstairs, ring for room service - takes 1 hour to arrive, expect table service in bar - we are too busy its counter service only now. Very very average.

The Hotel is very close to a lot of restaurants and shops, including on the nearby waterfront. The hotel staff were very helpful. The room was very clean and comfortable. The Hotel is also a very short walk from major shopping centres and arcades in Perth.

The hotel is under renovation and so no food or breakfast is provided, but this is not a problem for me who wants to try different food. There is good Asian and Western food close by the hotel at reasonable price.
From the hotel, I can walk to Northbridge which is the cultural centre of Perth, walk to Elizabeth Quay and Bell tower along Swan River, and to the shops and malls nearby.

Stayed here for a conference. Loved the spacious room with kitchenette and balcony. Mid century feel to the furnishings. Great cafe below with good vibe and great coffee. Loved being out of the CBD but only a short walk to the centre of town. Perfect location for early morning run (kings park) before a day at the conference (8 min walk to convention centre). Definitely stay here when I'm next in Perth.

The country's fourth largest city and booming capital of Western Australia is sprawling, but downtown Perth proper is bounded by the Swan River and the Graham Farmer Freeway and easily covered on foot. Museums, galleries, shopping malls, and pedestrian precincts characterise the CBD, while parkland wanders along the riverfront. The downtown area also encompasses East Perth, a former industrial zone now converted to residential streets, and Northbridge, a restaurant and nightlife hotspot that is also home to Perth's Cultural Centre.
