Had a fantastic 5 nights in Dubai at Zabeel Saray. The hotel run a shuttle bus every two hours and we got off at Mina A Salam hotel and then got a beach buggy to the Jumeira Beach hotel where we spent most of our evenings. The Jumeira Beach would have been a better choice for us though the Zabeel Saray is beautiful. The drinks in Zabeel are very expensive

I've been to Dubai on a number of occasions over the years and this was the most enjoyable. The location of the apartment village was quiet and peaceful. (Despite a media highlighted disaster locally [16 miles away]). Not 100 percent certain that when going out to anyone of the onsite restaurants, that they enforce the very smart dress code required (highlighted in some reviews) the food was not bad, but definitely not Michelin star quality. My family and I only dressed up for one evening, but the room service menu was more than adequate for our needs. I also travelled to the Dubai mall with my daughter and grandson just to shop in the Waitrose supermarket to purchase culinery ingredients for my night to cook. Had to take a taxi back to the complex, which took as long as the drive from the airport. I was in no mood to start cooking when I arrived back. Hence the family were all taken for slap up meal at an onsite restaurant, at my cost. If you're wondering, I did make use of the Waitrose provisions on another night, which went down well with a nice bottle of red wine.
