"Lovely and cozy, feel at home B&B"
We arrived at the BMV without knowing what to expect. We were received by Mike and Shawna and her dog and the beautiful smell of freshly laundered sheets. The rooms are fresh and airy the view is amazing and the bus stop is right outside of the B&B. She prepares breakfast with the locally grown ingredients and even her soaps are handmade.can't go wrong with this I will for sure come back anytime.

"One night stay"
This guest house was about 20/25 mins walk from main town so quite good location wise. The owner greeted me by name & was very nice. When I advised I would be leaving too early to have the included breakfast she kindly offered to leave some milk in the little fridge in the breakfast room so I could help myself to cereal etc. The room looked lovely and was very nicely decorated, bathroom was gorgeous, the facilities in the room were great as had everything you could need. The only criticisms I have are the single beds reminded me of kids bunk beds, could have been a bit bigger & more comfy & the towels also were too small in my opinion but overall, it was quite good for a 1 night stop-off on my travels.

"An excellent place to stay in the Orkneys"
My wife and I spend a night at HammerSmith B&B on a two day tour of the Orkneys. Although it's not located in a village, amenities and historical sites are only a short drive away, including an excellent Michelin rated restaurant only 2 miles down the road. The room was large, clean, and comfortable. It was arranged as a suite with a separate lockable door, providing privacy between the bedroom and the large and well-appointed bathroom. The upside of being in a rural area was the peace and quiet. It's a perfect place for a good night's sleep. Our hosts made us feel very welcomed and comfortable. Breakfast was outstanding, with more options than most B&B's. We highly recommend the HammerSmith to any Orkney visitor!

"Town centre and Bay View"
The room itself was terrific: two beautiful windows with a view of the bay harbor. Nicely furnished and the private bath was roomy as far as inns were concerned. The thing that you'd have to deal with is the fact that there is no elevator, and that the rooms were above a pub and restaurant. It's noisy with general pub revelry and music.... and also the slamming doors at the stairwell landing when people go up and down the stairs. I was there on a Sunday and Monday evening, and both nights were noisy. When you open the windows for fresh air, you'd have to also deal with the people/chattering that poured out of the pub and smoked along the sidewalk. The people who ran the inn were nice. They primarily worked at the pub or restaurant, which means that when you need to check in or check out, you'd go to the bar to find them (the reception desk is not staffed). The people themselves were great - friendly and helpful. Any questions we had, they answered. We also got to leave our suitcases in their locked office after checkout - our ferry wasn't leaving until the evening, so we appreciated not having to haul them around as we wandered the city.

"Nice hotel in centre of Kirkwall."
Very warm welcome from reception staff. Immaculately clean. Evening meals were delicious and waiting staff were very pleasant and efficient. No hotel cark park but public parking just around the back of hotel which is free after 5.00 pm until 9.00 am. Only downside was that our bed wasn't comfortable.

"Nice but old"
The Stromness Hotel was friendly and clean but is badly in need of refurbishment. Thread bare carpet and just an overall worn look. Horrible orange paint in bathroom. The service was good, but the breakfast was changed without notice from a menu to buffet and rooms were changed on the resturants without notice. The car park was had to get to driving through one track streets and barely enough room to get in the car park. Laundry was done on time and most of staff was friendly.

Orkney Islands is calling — find the perfect hotel

Everyone wants to score a deal on travel, but price is just one factor to consider when booking an unforgettable hotel. Whether you’re visiting family, attending a conference or taking a well-earned vacation in Orkney Islands, having an awesome experience should be a no-brainer.

Hotwire will hook you up! From restful nights near your flight to that prime spot in the city’s heart, we’ve done our research to bring the best options to your fingertips. Book your Orkney Islands hotel with us now and start your next adventure.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
