It was close to everything we wanted to do, the beach, the shopping and all the food. Everyone spoke of the steep hill but I didn't mind it and it wasn't as bad as I thought. Everyone was friendly and breakfast was amazing. The rooms are separated enough so I never really saw the other guests. That's what made it so relaxing. I am definitely coming back and only staying here!

Title says it all!! Stunning views everywhere, beautifully designed and landscaped, perfect setting. Short cab to town but never truly wanted to leave. Must use spa pool therapies! Hiroshi dinner superb. Boca steaks and drinks also excellent. Rest of breakfast, lunch, snacks drinks just ok. However, that was a blip in the big picture. Our corner room with 180 plus views inside or out was our best ever.

Check-in was quick and easy. Front desk staff is friendly and speak good English. The clerk gave me a map of the area and good directions for nearby places of interest. It's a boutique style hotel so don't expect 5 star, if you need those types of amenities stay elsewhere. There's a nice outdoor, shaded quad in the center with plants and trees throughout. It's 3 levels with a clean small-medium pool on the 3rd. No elevators but the walk up and down felt good. A/C, TV, and water pressure all worked fine. A negative is the noise...kids and adults can be heard talking loudly up until midnight and start again at about 9am. It gives you that local feel.
Restaurants begin next door and go both directions. Most of them have outside dining options. The food I ate tasted great with prices beginning very cheap. The beach, more restaurants, and the Malecon begin 2-3 blocks away. If you want it, Starbucks is an easy 15 minute walk. I never needed a taxi.
I love hotels like Posada de Roger...in the tourist area but not tourist prices. If you want a break from all-inclusive and resort prices, this is a great option.

The property is beautiful and very nicely maintained. The pool and garden area is very nicely laid out. We had a two bedroom suite with a full kitchen and 3 full bathrooms. It had a large terrace with a great ocean view.
However, few issues made our stay rather uncomfortable. For the amount that we paid for our stay, we would not have expected these kind of issues. I would attribute these to poor management. First, our check in process took about 25 minutes to complete and we were the only ones checking in, with no line up waiting.
We tried the restaurant for breakfast on our first day and decided not to return during the rest of our stay. Food was OK but service was very slow. We even had to get up ourselves to grab menus and serve ourselves coffee as the waiter would not show up. There was no buffet service, only menu service. This slow service also took place at the pool restaurant, where we waited 45 minutes for a burger and two salads.
The main issue we experienced was that the key cards for the room door never worked. Every time we needed to enter our room we had to go to the lobby and ask that someone come up with us to open the door. This was very frustrating. They tried re-programming our cards but made no difference. At one point we decided to leave the room door open whenever we went to the pool.
At checkout, they did not want to provide an invoice.
It is clear that management does not know the importance of customer service, as in a major hotel chain.

When we arrived at hotel, the woman that checked us in also brought us a class of very refreshing aqua fresca. Our double hotel room was the third floor and we had a balcony overlooking the store-lined street. That balcony offered great people-watching during our visit. The stores all close by early evening, so it's pretty quiet at night. The room as cleaned daily, the beds were comfortable. The courtyard of the hotel is very colorful, festive and inviting. We could walk all over the Romantic Zone and nearby areas from the hotel location. We also felt very safe staying there and while walking all over the area. The staff was very nice and accommodating when we couldn't figure out how to use the room safe. :-) We would definitely stay there again!

Pocket Guide: Puerto Vallarta North Hotel Zone Hotels
Large resorts dominate the Hotel Zone, arguably the center of Puerto Vallarta tourism. This area includes the Maritime Terminal, where cruise ships dock. Across the street, visitors can see authentic bullfights at La Paloma Bullring. Like its southern half, the North Hotel Zone’s main attraction is the crescent-shaped bay. Water sports are in abundance, as are restaurants, bars, and shops.
