We will return to this hotel, all staff are very welcoming & friendly, nothing is too much trouble. We can only speak of our superior room which was spacious, light with super views from the windows. The bathroom was a good size too. We were in a lovely quiet area, breakfasts were A. Starr with lots of choices. You have the choice of two restaurants for an evening meal, both of which we used, both excellent.

Excellent location, close to the beach. Not too noisy considering the rooms are above the pub, and the breakfast was good. The room, however, was disappointing as it had very large windows that looked directly into the windows of the houses opposite on a very narrow lane, there were no blinds so for privacy during the daytime we had to keep the curtains closed. Also, parking was a problem.

Stayed at this hotel for one night for a family birthday get-together. We had stayed here before, about 10 years ago and the hotel has gone through a fantastic refurbishment programme, and was totally unrecognisable. Very modern decor in the public areas, good outside seating area overlooking park. We were originally assigned a room in an outside building (carriage house) this room had not been upgraded and had a hole in the ceiling which was plugged up with paper and stains on the carpet. When we pointed this out to the receptionist, she assigned us a refurbished room, which was lovely - king sized bed (super comfortable) and modern bathroom. We were very well looked after during our meal and the food was very tasty. The service at breakfast was not so good, very very slow (and the coffee machine broke, so coffee had to be brought from the other side of the hotel) however, when breakfast arrived, it was piping hot and had been cooked beaufifully. The hotel is ideally placed opposite the park (hence the name) and is easy walking distance into the town. We would definitely stay again, but only in a refurbished room.

Enjoyed stay at hotel although only there overnight for 3 days has out till late evening doing activities. Would use this hotel again has good location in North Devon with easy road access and pleasant staff and owners, nothing was too much trouble for them. We loved the quiet location, gardens, good river views, easy safe parking, nearby walking & cycling trails. There was a bar in hotel we could have used in evenings if we wanted to but often we preferred to eat out around the area wherever we finished the day's activities.

The east of this varied coastline features the deep 'combes' (wooded valleys) of Exmoor, which plunge down to the sea, most dramatically at Lynton and Lynmouth. Westward are traditional English seaside towns with long sandy beaches (Ilfracombe, Woolacombe). Beyond the characterful towns of Barnstaple and Bideford, Clovelly is a picture-book, whitewashed fishing village, while Hartland Point is known for its dramatic, storm-battered cliffs.
