"Outdated hotel"
While the lobby of the hotel is very grand, I was really disappointed in the room, the wallpaper was peeling off, the bath was old and dirty, the grout needed replacing, the tiles were cracked, and there was no vanity or space for things in the bathroom.

"Quality hotel near Time Square"
Room was larger then most rooms in New York. Clean and comfortable. Only disappointment was one mirror, as we had 2 ladies and a teenage girl, it was inconvenient all trying to use the one mirror in bathroom.

"The Row NYC"
Noisy & unimpressive Reception area. Room very small but OK despite being "Superior". We've stayed in hundreds of hotels all over US including NYC & this was the ONLY one without a facility to make coffee/tea etc in the room.

"Bathroom's are small because it's a NYC Hotel"
The place was clean, well appointed, and generally in excellent condition. The staff was pleasant and helpful. It was everything I would expect from a very good NYC hotel. Bathrooms are small but that is to be expected in the city.

"Cool hotel upper west side"
I really enjoyed my stay at the NYLO. The bed was a nicely firm (too firm for hubby, just right for me), and the shower was fantastic. I had booked a lifestyle loft but was upgraded to the penthouse upon check-in. The penthouse was nice with a balcony off both the bedroom and the living room. Both balconies had comfortable seating. All staff were attentive and friendly. The lobby bar was cool with a garage feel to it.

hotel room didnt have a great view but i wasnt in d hotel most of the time anyways so it didn't matter. One disadvantage was that the bathroom air vintilation did not work in both of the rooms we got so after a shower d room was filled with vapor. overall the staff was great the rooms were clean. no complains. i would book a room in that hotel for my next trip again.

"Excellent hotel - Brilliant location"
I returned to this hotel having stayed there 7 years ago. I traveled with my 15 year old daughter and it was her first trip to the US. I selected it based on past experience and location. Our main reason for the trip was to attend a Graduation and we combined that with a holiday. We traveled with two other groups of friends who stayed in different hotels and although I paid a little bit more, having seen there rooms/facilities, there was no comparison. If I return to NYC I will definitely consider staying here again.

    Explore New York

Let’s just admit it – New York City is the center of the universe. Nowhere else comes close to its energy or importance – in business, art, fashion, cuisine, you name it. It’s a truly global metropolis where strivers from the world over come to chase their dreams.

The mythology of Gotham is as big as its skyscrapers and as brash as its cabbies. At the cutting-edge of everything, it brought you the Beats and the Beastie Boys, Scorsese and “Saturday Night Live,” Chris Rock and the Ramones, George Gershwin and Grandmaster Flash.

You could spend a lifetime exploring Manhattan. Art lovers swoon at the MOMA, the Guggenheim, the Met and countless galleries in Chelsea. Don’t miss a Broadway musical or the views from the Empire State Building.

Visit Brooklyn for hipster cool and family-friendly neighborhoods. You’ll hear every language imaginable in multi-ethnic Queens. Discover the roots of hip-hop and cheer on the Yankees in The Bronx. The Staten Island Ferry provides unbeatable views of Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty.

    Sensory stimulation

It's natural to feel a little overwhelmed on a first visit to New York. The city can overload the senses: the smell of sizzling gyros from Midtown street vendors' carts, the sound of a subway musician's saxophone during the crush of a rush-hour commute, and the neon lights of Times Square flashing at all times of day and night.

This stimulation from all sides is what makes New York so dynamic. You'll soon realize it's the sheer sense of possibility that has everyone jumping. You can do anything here, whether it's catching a long-running show like Phantom of the Opera on Broadway or crashing a loft party in the newest alternative art space. Shop 'til you drop in SoHo like the 'Sex and the City' cast or hobnob with the literati at West Village wine bars.

You can even enjoy some nature, and not only in Central Park. The East Village has many community gardens and Brooklyn's Prospect Park is a real delight. Head north to the Bronx Botanical Gardens or to Washington Heights' Fort Tryon Park, which towers over the Hudson River with views of the Palisades - you won't believe you're still in the city.

    The whole world is here

To get your bearings in such a large city, it's a good idea to start with an overview. A hop-on, hop-off bus tour will help you learn the lay of the land. Or, for a different vantage point, try a helicopter ride over the five boroughs or sail by Manhattan's monuments on an elegant dinner cruise. Sure, it's a bit extravagant and certainly bold, but hey, that's New York.

Really, though, New York is a series of neighborhoods-it's not all that intimidating. From Little Italy to Chinatown, the Lower East Side to Chelsea, New York houses several communities, each with their own distinct flavor. Despite this, there are no artificial boundaries-the daily mix of millions of different people is what makes the city's story so great. Perhaps that's why New Yorkers think they live in the center of the world-it seems the whole world is here. Hide
