"Hotel was under construction."
We were not aware that the Stanford Court Hotel was under construction when we booked it.. We should have been told this, or at least gotten a discount.. But overall it was still a pleasant experience.

"You get what you pay for"
This hotel was one of the cheaper ones I could find in that area. The area of town was a little sketchy but that was expected since it was just outside of Union Square. The hotel was clean and the staff was very friendly. The room was cleaned nicely each day. I didn't think the beds were comfortable but again it was expected for the price. Strange opinion but I thought it had the best shower I've ever had at a hotel. The shower pressure was awesome lol. I would suggest this hotel to someone who is looking to save a couple hundred dollars and doesn't mind not having most comfortable bed.

"Great for the cable cars."
The Axiom is in a great location right next to the city centre terminus for the cable cars and close to Union Square. Our view was rotten but otherwise the room was great although it would have been nice to have tea/coffee making facilities.

"Good pick in San Francisco for the money"
Very close to transport. BART directly outside entrance. Trams and trollies within a block. Hotel is located in a transitional area and we did not want to walk back to the hotel after dark so transport was a must. Hotel itself is ok for the price paid. Our room had an A/C unit that cycled loudly off and on every 20 mins or so. We finally turned it off at night to get some rest. Make sure you don't get a room near the service corridor/road. The trucks start running around 5:30 am and if you aren't a sound sleeper it will wake you. Our hair dryer broke and it took two calls to get it fixed, but it was repaired. Hotel is old classic. Beautiful entry. Reminds of of old Hollywood glamour.

"Elegant Hotel with a Beefeater to Welcome You"
From the moment I arrived from the airport, I was impressed by the friendliness of every member of the hotel staff. The Beefeater in full uniform greeted me each and every time I returned. The waitstaff in the lobby bar, the restaurant, the room service waiter all friendly and efficient. The food was very good both in the restaurant and room service. The historical queen room was elegantly furnished, though the tiny bathroom gave the age of the hotel away! A great trip to a wonderful city was made memorable by the Sir Francis Drake!

"Hotel within walking distance to Union Square"
Hotel do need some reno, rather dated. Beds are comfortable and the tea/sherry facility in the morning and evening is a nice touch. Very close to Union Square shopping area and lots of eateries around it. Morton is just next door and food is good but pricey.

"Hotel with great location."
We had to check in early (around 1pm) due to our flight getting in early and they had a room ready for us. It has over 100 rooms but it feels like a small personal hotel. all of the staff were friendly and helpful. Coffee and tea were available every morning. We had a problem with the TV that was resolved quickly. The hotel is right outside union square and the shopping district with many restaurants nearby, Our room was a little small but we were not in the room much. Its a little bit of a walk to get to fisherman's wharf but it was good exercise. They also offered money towards a gift card for days we turned down room service which I thought was a great way to go green and save guests some cash to be used at the bar or hotel restaurant for breakfast for lunch.

Hotwire will hook you up! From restful nights near your flight to that prime spot in the city’s heart, we’ve done our research to bring the best options to your fingertips. Book your Mission District hotel with us now and start your next adventure.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
