We enjoyed our stay at Hotel du Lac Locarno. We had a nice room with a view of the lake. There was a little balcony with a table and chairs facing the lake and the mountains. The room was up to date with a little refrigerator. They nicely provided you with two bottles of water daily which came in handy on the day trips. The TV and Internet worked well.
Warning - As you leave the hotel and walk to the left there are many great stores and restaurants. It is nice that you can walk under a covered area. However, there are a couple of streets that run perpendicular through this area that allow cars to go up the hill to the old town. I came within two inches of my life as a car sped up the hill on the road nearest to the hotel. There was a large column which blocks both the pedestrian and motorist's visibility. If they are driving slowly there are no issues but a careless driver almost cost me my life. Please proceed cautiously. This shook us up for days. This has nothing to do with the hotel but just a piece of advice to those staying here.
The breakfast was good. There was a nice selection. Great coffee!

The hotel itself itself is quite nice, the staff is friendly and the rooms are well equipped. Breakfast buffet is good and has a large selection. The view is pretty stunning from the room and also from the breakfast room. We dined there once and the food was amazing.
The spa are is lovely but it doesn't have a jacuzzi. The pool was quite cold (we were there in February).

"Excellent Choice, wish all hotels were like this."
The whole experience was fantastic, hotel is close to the train station, rooms are fresh, new and clean, internet is very strong and the staff were super helpful and friendly. Even to the point where they made a few phone calls in the local language (Thanks Emma) to help book a hotel for our next destination. Very impressed.

Loved this place located in the center of Locarno. Oozes charm with different themed rooms. Managed by two sisters, you can tell that they love the place and want to take care of their guests. Rare to find such helpful owners in the city. Lots of tips on getting around and parking (not an easy feat in this town). Even an iPad was provided for the room.

This is such a nice hotel. It's quite small but has everything you could want and its close to the lake, the railway station and the centre of town. The staff are professional but extremely friendly and helpful, not to mention multi-lingual. My room was spacious and comfortable. I've been travelling for a month and this is the best hotel I've stayed in.

I liked my stay here. I was only there for a night but the room was comfortable and decent. Yes, it may be a bit on the older side but everything works fine and is clean. It's also very central so that was great to walk around.

Located where the River Maggia flows into Lake Maggiore, Locarno boasts the mildest climate in Switzerland. Shops, restaurants, and cafés fill the bustling Piazza Grande and each August the piazza becomes an outdoor cinema for the International Film Festival. Narrow streets wind through Old Town leading to the archaeological museum housed in a medieval castle. From a rocky hilltop, the Sanctuary of the Madonna del Sasso overlooks the city below.
