"Great location, comfortable, good size room "
Pleasant staff, busy reception area, overall good stay. Would select again. Recommendation - we prefer to keep a bathroom light on at night to avoid stumbling around. Frosted glass on bathroom wall is a great design feature but does not allow for night light. Would have been nice to have a luggage rack. Two travelers = two bags. The place to hold suit case was fine, but another rack would be more comfortable.

"Short stroll to the Prado museum"
This hotel is across the street from the Prado and a few blocks from Sofia Reina. The staff is very helpful, nice very quiet rooms and massage is available until 11:00 pm. Lots of good dining and drinking within easy walking. The breakfast is substantial but service in the bar is poor and menu choices very limited.

"Great location"
We stayed here on two separate stints during our trip to Spain. The location was great- easy walk to Atocha station, Sol and the museums. We also found several great restaurants in the area. The staff was friendly in general. Rooms were clean as were the bathrooms. The bathrooms could be a little better with layout but not a big issue. The only issue we had with one of our rooms was with the hot water. The staff fixed that promptly but it happened again the next day. I suspect that was more an issue with that room though because we had no such issues with the room we were in the second time around. Overall, I'd recommend the hotel as a convenient place to stay in.

Calle Espoz y Mina, 8, 2nd Floor, Madrid - Map
The sound proof of the room is not good enough , especially when our room was located right next to the staff room. Also, the water supply of the water was not stable, in which we could not have hot water when having shower in the morning. Yet , the room is spacious and the breakfast buffet is excellent. Also. It has perfect location.

Apartamentos en Sol

Puerta del Sol, 3, Madrid - Map
"Great location, poor communication from staff"
LOVED the apartment. The apartment was beautiful and in a fantastic location. Right in the city center, with a train and metro station right out front. I'm giving Apartamentos en Sol a reluctant four stars due to the horrible lack of communication. I sent two requests prior to arrival for a crib to be set up in our apartment. They never responded. We stayed at three different apartments while in Spain, and Sol were the only ones to not give us any instructions prior to arrival. When we arrived, the front door was locked. I had to use my cell data to call the apartment phone number, and the woman who answered didn't speak any English and told me nobody there spoke any English. Now, I'm not some ignorant American who thinks the whole world should speak English, but I booked this place through an American website and expected someone to be able to at least vaguely communicate with me. Fortunately, I know some Spanish, so I was able to explain to her that we were stuck outside with no way in. She sent someone to let us in. There was no crib when we arrived, but they did get us one. One of the hotel staff rang our doorbell at 11 PM the next night to tell us we hadn't paid the extra 33 euros for the crib (why didn't they charge me for it when they charged me for the apartment the day before?) And, ironically, by ringing the doorbell at 11 PM to demand money for the crib where our baby was sleeping, he woke up our baby and she proceeded to cry for the next hour. So that was fun.

Plaza de Santa Ana, 14, Madrid - Map
Modern comforts, good central location. Santa Ana Plaza is buzzling with activities day and night. We walked to the art museums (Prado and Thyssen) and the beautiful Retiro Park. We walked to Plaza Mayor and the adjacent SanMiguel Market. Thoroughly enjoyed our four-day stay at this hotel.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
